Feel sorry for Paterson and Bosch. neither should have been replaced. still the series to be won,
Mulder was in possession and is backed by shukri 100%, was always coming back in. Keshav was always back in at the coastal venues.
The only real debate can be around bosch vs kwena.

Their is an old saying, never change a winning side unless it is forced upon you, i get the Maharaj selection but one of the 2 should have been retained.

Maharaj has to play at Newlands. If Mulder is back in the team then him and Paterson are very much two of the same types of bowlers. I think they can feel aggrieved but it makes sense.
I agree. There are a few other quicks ahead of them that are injured too so it's pretty cool they've stepped up being so far down our pecking order. I think it's a situation we want, guys who feel
disappointed to not be playing. Means people are contributing. It's what has brought this team success in recent times. So many different people contributing.

I don't think we have these class players that are absolute bankers. We've been chasing it for some time & until the performances show they are then we have to go with what combinations suit which conditions and which opponents.

These were Bavuma's comments. I kind of understand not needing Pato when you have Mulder like bowling.

I think it's Mulder's return which has prompted Maphaka's selection. They may have wanted the safety net of five bowlers for his debut, which means he could only play with Mulder back. So Paterson and Bosch playing at Centurion was to a certain extent due to Mulder's absence, and since he was the man in possession there was no reason not to bring him back, but that does mean that the make up of the bowling attack changes.

And I know it's a different sport and different circumstances, but the South African rugby team didn't do too badly last year despite regularly changing a winning team.

@SeamUp you know if ever had more then 4 guys from the same school in a test 11? We will have four St. Stithians tomorrow with kg, Kwena, ricks & wiaan.
I think I found some instances of three, but not four.

Durban High: Trevor Goddard, Barry Richards, Lee Irvine
Jeppe: Jock Cameron, Bob Caterall, Jim Christy
KES: Kevin McKenzie, Ray Jennings, Hugh Page (a rebel tour match, so technically not a test)

Just out of interest, why is Beyers Swanepoel getting the short end of the stick?
There is a lot of depth in his position , a bowler with batting ability so typically a No.8/9

Jansen , Bosch , Coetzee all can play that role , Swanepoel is about 5-10 kph slower than them ..and then of course if you were to bat him at no.9 or lower he's competing with a spinner like Maharaj, Rabada is undroppable , Paterson whose done really well under Conrad, Ngidi will come into it when he comes back from injury and now Maphaka aswell ..

Would have liked to see him in ODI cricket though.
