I think when he played that cover-drive today, one of the comms refer to his as 'Rabalara'?
calypso cricket of the highest order, don't know what relationship rabada has to the west indies and it did come across as a somewhat ignorant comment anyhow

i was racking my brain trying to figure it out

Rabada and our cricketers have a good connection together (when they are not on the cricket field). When SA visited us this year, they spent time together and socialized. So, you know, it's rubbed off on him.

Its a nickname kg has that Hashim shared during the test. Apparently he fancies his batting style to be like BC Lara.

Sounds like an amazing match. Why hasn't Abbas been picked for so long?
This, supposedly?

All this prompts the question: why haven’t Pakistan selected Mohammad Abbas? The answer is unclear because statistically, it is hard to see why not. He’s enjoyed an excellent 2022. In the County Championship, Abbas played a crucial role in Hampshire fearsome pace attack, taking 50 wickets in 12 matches at a brilliant average of 17.62. More recently, he took 18 wickets for Southern Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at 24.16. It is easier to see why another relatively experienced Pakistan bowler was omitted in the form of Hasan Ali. Ali has a good Test record, but his performance in this year’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy doesn’t demand a recall, taking just 14 wickets at 40, after losing his Test place earlier in 2022.

He got injured and then came back visibly worse iirc. Bowlers like him are also especially susceptible to confirmation bias - once the selectors saw him struggle a bit I think they took it as his trundliness was being exposed.

Taking stacks and stacks in the CC is great but he also appears tailor-made for those conditions which probably didn’t help his perception as a philander lite.

Tbh he probably would’ve been fodder on those home wickets anyways just like everyone else.

Yeah, I can't imagine he would've done much on Pakistani roads

So Rabada had his worst home bowling test ever. But managed to save it with his batting. Impressive. iirc Cummins has saved a test with his batting too

I think it’s just the universe evening out since he has bowled some rank spells over the years but still always got bags of wickets. He has been the most consistent fast bowler for SA in the last 3 Tests but hasn’t got the wickets to show for it.
