well done ND, well deserved. Vettori has put his hand up for captaincy duties for the black caps when Fleming retires.

Lance Hamilton - Black Cap bolter?

Interesting to hear Ian Smith's thoughts on him today. Smithy reckons Hamilton should be a dead cert in the Aussie series, with his ability to swing the new ball, and also the added bonus of him being a left armer. He also said Hamilton bowls at a good pace and was shocked to hear Hamilton wasn't in the SOO teams.

I was quite impressed with Hamilton today as well, he swung the ball into the left hander very well, and he also bowled with good control unlike Franklin who is quite inconsistent. Steve Waugh said on the last time he toured here, that he rated Hamilton as the best NZ bowler in the country. Even though Hamilton is 32 now, should he be given a shot? If you ask me, age shouldn't be a factor. Look at Kasprowicz and the likes of Wilson and Martin.

Hamilton's had great figures both SC and SS.

McSkimming on 99* and Scott on 91*, what a great partnership of 191. The record for a ninth wicket partnership for all teams is 231. Hope they can get there.

McSkimming eventually out on Nelson - 111. Scott 96* at stumps with Craig Smith on 2.

I'm guessing we will reverse the order in the second innings?

We have to have one of the stronger tails in the country, Espically if Wilson is available that would mean that Brad Scott would bat at 11!

We have to have a strong tail when our top and middle order is so inconsistent - plus we have to carry Wasim in this match after he injured himself in warmups. As he injured himself after the team was named, he couldn't be replaced, but is allowed a runner.

Turns is gone as you predicted, SM.

Gaffaney gets a well earned 100, carried his second innings on his first innings score of 78

Great to see Rob Nicol score a 100. He was superb in his debut season and showed heaps of talent. Handy off spinner as well.

Carl Cachopa looks the goods as well at 18, we should be playing him more instead of Aaron Barnes who has come out of retirement in 3 years.

yea hes in gd form at the moment

Just hope those retirement rumours are unfounded. But if he does i think we have the depth to cover, but Wasim would have to find form.

With Rob Nicol, he would have to be one of the slowest scorers in the country.
