ahhhhhhh, rats stubborn Vettori gets to 50
Great innings from Dan, he's turning into a very good all-round player. Franklin's scoring runs too, a lead of 150 looks very possible with the way this pair is playing.

Vettori is third in the run scoring for New Zealand in the series I think, behind Hamish Marshall and Astle.

well ponting has thrown Kasper the ball, hasn't bowled that well so far today and hasn't really carried on his goood bowling form form last year into this series, maybe if Lee bowls well in the Natwest Series and Natwest Challenge maybe he can finally force his way in front of Kasper and play in the 1ST Test at Lords

I don't know how you can say that. He took the bowling honours in the second test first innings, has taken more wickets than Gillespie and has had one bad spell. As we speak he is bowling much better. Don't believe the hype.

well mavric i'm a huge Lee fan so i'm just making excuses really :D , even though Kasper has done excellently since cementing his place in the australian side, i just feel in a way the aussie attack would look more fearsome with Lee in it

He's had a pretty average series though. He had one good innings, and the rest of the time he has varied between decent and poor. Do you really think Lee would have only taken 8 wickets at over 30 in the series?

Good knock from Franklin under the circumstances. That setup would have got most batsman out, so he can't feel too unhappy about his mode of dismissal either. Good bowling by Warne and a sharp catch from Ponting.

well based on the way he bowled to the kiwi batsmen during the ODI, he could have really cuased havoc

Well, I don't know what to say to that. I would put any amount of money on Lee doing a hell of a lot better than 8 wickets @ 30+ against New Zealand, given how completely hopeless they have been against him in the ODIs recently.

Hell, last New Zealand tour was three tests and against a stronger New Zealand side and he took 18 wickets @ 17.4, and he's a better bowler now than he was then.

Very good knock by Franklin, really helped. Wiseman is capable of doing the same with the bat, hope he can do it today.

Imagine how well we could have done if all our players higher up had played sensibly like Franklin?

Vettori finally gone. Great knock from him, has given New Zealand at least SOME sort of total to bowl at. Wiseman and Vettori should be a bit of a handful on this pitch, so we're in for an interesting finish to the game.

McGrath takes the catch that rules out his chance of getting 500 in this match too. Warne one away from another 5-fer.

Disappointing. I was about to suggest that Vettori had a shot of getting a century but then he goes and gets out.
