Vettori averages 37 with the bat in his last 17 tests they just said on t.v.

Also his batting stats for the series came up and he has scored 155 runs for the series and only been dismissed twice. His lowest score has been 22

lol, why haven't NZ taken this approach before?
We've just been too defensive the whole series, we should have played like this from Day 1 in Christchurch.

Vincent & Astle are playing some brilliant shots.

Franklin has improved alot over the series. He can stick his hand up and say he's learned from this series..im afraid though that Chris Martin has not.
it's definately one of the benefits to be had by having a 6-4 split IMO - you can afford to have a go at the bowling to break up their line & length with 2 specialist batsmen at the cost of a wicket, as you will still have a specialist at the crease with the allrounders.........so long as once 1 wicket falls the remaining specialist looks to bat thru' - not meaning he needs to then become defensive, just take less risks..........

Well, Vincent just comitted cricketing suicide.
I thought I heard a call of NO after he took off & then he stopped b4 taking off again - would have been a different result if he hadn't stopped as he is quick..............

Can anyone work out what Lloyd says at the end of each over.

He says 'Over' and then he says something and it's the same thing every time
I don't know if it's the same thing you're referring to, but I always hear him say "Right hand!" or "Left hand!" when there's a combination, just to help the fielding side get into position quickly I imagine.

Yeah thats what it sounds like to me too.

Very strange for an umpire to say it after every over.

IMO that session was the best of the series

A great session of test cricket. For once NZ actually came at Australia as opposed to staying on the crease and poking and pushing.

All credit to Vincent who started the momentum. Can't believe its taken so long for NZ to try and adopt this approach. Unlike the media i'd much rather see them dismissed playing positive shots, taking a leaf out of Gilchrist's book as opposed to trying to bat out time.

Although Australia may wipe this NZ tail and win before tea, cricket is a funny game and strange things can happen.

Macca scores a ton & Hopkins a 50 v SRL..................

if Hopkins has a decent match behind the stumps then I'd look to start him in the series v SRL - he's been the #2 'keeper for a couple of series now - and McCullum is batting too much like Macca has been & needs to build his innings b4 going for it.............

It was Astle who first showed the intent but I agree Vincent was the main driving force behind it

NZL pitches usually have some early life in the morning sessions as a result of overnight dew, and early morning cloud cover - add in a new ball and even C Martin took a hatful v RSA..............

looking at the highlights this morning there was plenty of movement for the AUS attack to it was hard to do anything but try to survive long enough..............

as the pitch settled down Astle & Vincent were more able to go at the bowling while the ball was still reasonably hard b4 Warne came into the attack...........

and I suppose that Vincent wanted to make a statement re his future prospects with Macca having scored v SRL..............

well this test match is getting intersting Astle & Vettori are stubbornly putting together a partnership and if NZ give AUS 150 to chase things could get interesting

i doesn't look like Glenn would be getting his 500 in this match, but it would be nice if he took it at Lords this June that would be a great place to achieve such a prestigeous feat

Vettori was absolutely dead plumb there. Would have hit a third of the way up middle stump. I think perhaps the umpire thought it hit him outside the line, but it definately didn't, it hit in front of middle and off.

i think mcgrath is trying too hard to get his 500 wickets, he should just concentrate on doing what he normally does and i think then the wickets will come
