what diff does it make nowadays who failed in the final...the team itself has lost so many times, its hard to remember them winning anything. It would have been nice to beat NZ in the finals and get the monkey of the back, coz I think loosing to NZ in ICC mini WC is when IND's woos of loosing in finals started.

I dont think India lost...for the last few months I've been referring to them as nothing but the BCCI team...I dont feel sadness or anything if this team-playing-for-money loses at all...All I think about is how even my college team can field better!...

Except for some few exceptions like Sehwag,Yuvraj,Kaif,Agarkar nobody gives a damn about fielding...as for the bowling, its been used to being pathetic...but with reasonable bowling and good fielding India (ooops.... the damn BCCI team) can even win, against a formidable opponent, for a change...

I feel for Greg Chappell though...I dont know how much he is contributing but he does have to deal with a bunch of spoilt rich half-hearted players

Well that was a great win!! Astle played an excellent knock, its so good to have someone who actually goes on with his starts.

The biggest disappointment of the tour has been Marshall by a long way. Every game he has just got out in a pretty innocuous way, and that continued today. It looked like he wasn't ready when the ball was bowled, since he only lifted his head while Sehwag was in his delivery stride. As a result he was hurried by a ball that he should have worked for a single comfortably.

Who was the Man of the Series by the way?

Bond. 11 wickets @ an average of under 10 made it pretty easy for the judges.

Somehow, I dont really feel that bad after this loss. Probably because First of all I wasn't expecting them to score 276, then despite giving so many runs early in NZ innings, we were very match in the match untill the Bhajji Over when Astle hit him for a six and a total 17 runs in that over (so much for Sourav not using his spinners). India were still in the match and only if Nehra and company had fielded better, it could have been even more close.

Interesting to read Indian fans' comments on their bowlers......very critical.

I wouldn't be too upset though, Double AA should be in the side when he's in form, Pathan looks to be bowling without confidence and speed but he'll bounce back. Nehra is too inconsistent and can't field to save his life, replace him with either Zaheer or Balaji.

And where is Kumbli (sp)? He would have been handy.

The Indian attack is in better condition than the NZ attack, Adams is too inconsistent, Mills can't bowl at the end of the innings, Oram is below par, and Cairns is bowling pies.
Martin can't string together performances and Franklin has too many off days (though he is improving in consistency and speed).

Most teams have a poor attack in international cricket today, it's a fact.

Never. Kaif doesn't compare to Laxman in Tests.
But he won't be a bad replacement for Sachin, given his good form here. And he is brilliant at Short leg, something INdia needs with guys like Kumble in the side.

Lol, not for me. I still get p*ssed off and vent my frustrations either on this board, or to my mates and family.
me too. And I always get screamed at by my parents for shouting at them when India loses. I wonder if I should go back to the days when I KNEW India would lose everytime.

I disagree that it was close. IMO New Zealand would have chased down 300 or more after that start last night. The only reason it seemed close at the end is that after NZ's cracking start - high runrate with wickets in hand -they clearly just paced the innings after that.

Personally I think there is still quite a gap between these two sides in oneday cricket. Had Fleming not been so arrogant in the 2nd game by resting Bond and Vettori and Styris hadn't been so selfish in his quest for personal milestones, I think NZ could have won the 2nd game as well.

I thought Kaif has been very good in this series. Don't see how Bond deserved it more than Kaif, to be honest. I am getting tired of this losing team don't get MOTS awards.... because in that case, no Indian will never get a MOTS award.

Perhaps your team should win more often. :p

Kaif did have a good average of 92.33 (inflated by not outs, but that's to his credit), but considering Bond ripped the heart out the two sides time and time again (aside from the final, where he was beating the bat with monotonous regularity), I have no qualms. Plus I'm a Kiwi. His 6/19 against India are the best figures ever for a New Zealander in an ODI.

I'd like to see Kaif at 3 for many matches to come. I think he has what it takes to be successful. Our pacers on the other hand...
Would you say that this series has cemented his position at 3 in the order for a long time?
