Ah, fair enough. Forgot about that one. Serves me right to trust the TOI. Anyway, 20 out of 21 isnt bad either . Remove the minnows, and you'd still be left with around 15 I reckon. The Champions Trophy 2000 was when they started counting.
Champions Trophy 2004? You didn't make that final either...

I think the finals argument could have been used from 2000 till about 2003 when the Indian ODI outfit was performing quite well, but just choking at the final hurdle. India seriously could have won the TVS Cup final against Australia in 2003. No I'm not saying they 'should have', but Laxman dropping like 5 catches was absolutely shocking, and yet Aus only scored like 230-240 (off the top of my head). India's chase was just an example of choking, rather than lack of ability IMO. Especially considering Australia's attack was lead by Bichel along with Bracken and Williams (I don't think Gillespie played, and I'm positive Lee and McGrath were out).

However nowadays I think its come down to the fact that the Indian ODI team is just not good enough. Not good enough in the field (we've got 2-3 outstanding fielders, 2 who can hold their own (when Sachin is in the team) and that's it), not consistent enough with the bat and definitely not good enough with the ball.

First of all, Australia has nothing to do with it.

Second of all, you didn't make the final of the Videocon Cup 2004 in Amsterdam, and I don't think you've played another 20 tournaments since then. So it's not 20 straight finals anyway.

Third, the thing is a number of those 20 finals you did make were in tri-series which involved just 2 serious teams and one minnow. Like the Indian Oil tri-series, and the Videocon Cup 2005.

I can make finals too if it's between me and Zimmer Frame CC. Possibly...
Okay he is wrong with 20 Straight but still India has made it to some 15-20 finals under Sourav.

Missed ones came only last year and everyone knows that Indian team has not been performing that well lately. ;)

Good to hear, Bond is a champ. Sounds like he was buggered at the end but!
Yeah, he suffers from heat exhaustion issues. Almost fainted 3 years ago in the Brisbane heat if I rememeber correctly.

Whatever it takes!!!
There is not much wrong with this INdian side, actually. You take away Ganguly and perhaps a couple of other guys who can do only one thing (unfortunately, that list would include DRavid too :( ) atleast u can have a competitive team, if not as talented as the others put out by us in the past. And Rao looks totally out of his depths in the international arena. Raina is good but he needs more FC cricket before coming into the international side. I really don't see why Badani or Mongia should not play ahead of those two. A side like this wouldn't be bad..

Sachin
Sehwag
Kaif
Yuvraj
Dravid
Badani/Mongia
Dhoni
Yadav
Agarkar
Pathan
Harbhajan

supersub: Zaheer or Balaji or some other medium pacer

Bond fell on his ankle I think, not sure if it was attributed to the heat, but it was likely to have been a factor

The TVS Cup was my favourite OD series ever. With a depleted bowling line-up and after losing the first match, we looked screwed. But Bracken lead from the front and we won the thing. Harvey performed admirely as well.
I think we made 220-odd in the final, on a bowlers wicket. Clarke was super and a lot of Harvey deliveries kept low.

Get Bahutule in!
You really think so or are you influenced by the archer amongst the Pandavas ? :)

Bahutule doesnt deserve to be in the first three Indian teams. He never did.

Why should Dravid not bat at number three ??

What has he done wrong ?
