Only for short periods of time, then comes the ******** shot or a very good ball which is too good.

If we can pile on 400+ here (which I doubt) then I'll be happy, even if we are playing on a road.

Either it is the flat pitch, or he has turned the corner in terms of batting in test matches. I hope for NZ's sake it is the latter..he definitely is looking more confident.

My constant backing of Taylor has paid off. So I'm pleased. Southee had that one ripper of a session and O'Brien has proved his worth with the ball.

A half decent second innings will conclude what has been a half decent tour for me all round.

Yeah, they need to value their wicket more.

And to learn how to apply themselves.

And to come out after a break and not lose wickets.

And to turn over the strike better so pressure isn't mounted up so easily.

A little humour or banter between the commentators is entertainment, and thats part of the Channel Nine package.

A little banter is fine. When the commentators completely ignore a batsman hitting a 4 for instance, that isn't.

Bruce Yardley would make a good Channel 9 commentator tbh:

Ian Healy: "Australia are magnificent, get Lee up here! He's my lover!"

Richie: "The makingo f Symonds was when...."

Tony Grieg "Ar, we hav the best commontery in the world, ar"

Chappel "*grumble about field placement*"

Yardley "play some shots! You've only got a SR of 120! Ya too slow!"

Yeah, agreed.

They could do with a visiting commentator to mix things up a bit.

I think Ian Smith really ruined it for visiting commentators, now they just go with Nicholas because they know he will play along.

Wasn't there someone from India when they were over there? I'm sure there was..

Should've invited Crowe, he could have punched Healy for us after a ridiculously biased argument from both sides. Then Taylor could have punched Crowe.

Crowe was actually surprisingly good on the radio yesterday, though I think that had more to do with the fact that he wasn't really commentating, more just discussing the general situation in New Zealand Cricket, and a couple of the big issues in the world game.

Jeremy Coney would be great.

But Ian Smith would also be good, I loved it how he commentated the last time in Aus. He wasn't affraid to try and even out the bias.

Now with Nicholas, they have found someone who will just go along with their bias, and not even make things interesting.
