Should have been directed at Precambrian to be honest.

There is no bowler to ever have played the game that can get you bagfuls at will on any surface in any condition. If Warne had been Indian you guys would have worshiped the ground he walked on.
Sure. Did I ever say Warne is not the best? I just pointed out that he was not good in all conditions as a reply to TC's post. Read the quotes also,

Sooooo...

I just could not believe that Flynn dropped such a monumental sitter off Haddin. Quite extraordinary. I now a lot of these players are new and may not have received the kind of fielding coaching that regular internationals get, but that was appauling. I would've been disappointed to drop that, and I can't catch for ****.

I'd like to see us bat for at least 4 sessions, but I doubt we'll manage it. Predict Redmond and How to get out early, Ryder to play a crap shot in his 30's, Taylor in his 20's, Flynn to get deservedly run out for 0 without facing a ball (OK, maybe that's just something I'd like to see happen), and McCullum to have a bash at the end and get 60 off 50, as we crumble to 240 all out.

Well batted to Michael Clarke. I was really disappointed we didn't get Haddin early. He looked determined to get out in the first 5 or so overs that he was out there.

Again surprisingly O'Brien is the only one to escape with moderately acceptable bowling figures. Considering what a road it was, it does say something about his nack for strangling wickets. And good on Redmond for grabbing a couple at the end. I really think Vettori should've used him and Ryder more. To expect 3 seamers (one of whom is 19 and clearly not quite ready for full test cricket yet) to run in for 2 days straight, even with Vettori holding up the other end, was a bit much.

TBF a couple of games doesn't really count. It is like Mathew Sinclair when he scored 214 on his Test debut and saying he had a higher Test average then anybody else.
Obvious. But it is false to state that no visiting spinner has ever done good in India. There are many, and Richie leads the list.

My 2 cents end here. I do not wish to indulge in OT discussion here.

Vettori tried his best to throw the best attack he had available for as long as possible. I give him kudos for that. 30 overs from the man was monumental.

Hope How scores 50 odd tomorrow. I think we're capable of drawing this match, the pitch is still a road. We need 4+ sessions.

120 overs guys! You can do it!

Don't give me that crap. Your a good poster and your better then that. If you ever bothered to read, Ryder should of thrown the stumps down when he had the chance, it has nothing to do with Koertzen. And TBF to Koertzen in real time, would you have been able to judge that it hit the shoulder Haddin's bat? Bearing in mind you do not have 'hot spot' or a replay or dozen?
What do you mean 'i'm better than that'? When it is as clear cut out as that all you want to do is shout as loud as you can, why would Ryder be thinking "Hey, he's edged it, i've caught it and he's clearly out...but i'll throw down the stumps instead of appealing". Talk about the perfect way to make the umpire think it isn't out.

And yeah, straight away I started cheering. There were clearly two noises, and it clearly deflected, the only things it could have hit were bat, glove and pad. I thought it was pretty obvious in real time on the TV. Koertzen has got a few wrong in this test already.

Oh has anyone else noticed that the Channel 9 commentators hardly ever seem to do any commentating. They'll just take 5 minute breaks from the game to fart on to each other about their agonisingly uninteresting anecdotes, and just completely ignore what's going on, out on the park. Then eventually, presumably because some hopelessly depressed broadcaster pokes them with a stick, they'll wake up and make some incredibly insightful comment like "Well Australia will probably be wanting to extend their lead over New Zealand." Leaving aside for a moment their extraordinary bias, I don't honestly know if there is a worse team going around, purely in terms of actual commentating.

Think if we get a Ryder-Taylor partnership going 120 will be more than enough. Won't happen though, 150+ would draw the match for sure.
The funny thing is, on that pitch, with Australia not having a class spinner and Lee well past his last seasons best, we SHOULD be able to bat two days no problem. There simply is not 10 wicket taking balls in that pitch.

Obviously our batsmen are going to make mistakes, and we will almost certainly lose the test. But if we were Australia in the same position, i'd have no doubt they could score 500 on the 4th and 5th days.

Bugger. Since I've been away for three days it looks very stereotypical NZ disaster test match. **** up the first innings, bowl OK but let the foot off the throat in the second (though its a flat pitch and the bowlers should not be blamed, the batsmen should get their arses into gear and give our bowlers some support) due to dropped catches and annoying 5th/6th/7th wicket partnerships.

All that remains is the 100 run second inningso pening partnership followed by a complete collapse for 150 ao.

I'd be nicer but I'm tired. Gun to see the Howitzer attack, but as negative as it sounds I'm kinda annoyed Redmond saved his own bum at the last minute. The cynic in me feels the flat pitch played a major role in his 85. Anyone to confirm or deny?

If we don't lose this match I will be bloody ecstatic.

Still rather pleased with our efforts throughout this series, think we've won more sessions than we were expected too.

Helped but he played very well. I think when the ball isn't doing much Redmond can do alright.

Oh yeah Athlai, we have done far better than expected, mainly with the ball. Our batting has looked promising for mine. Our batsmen definitely seem to be able to cope against good bowlers and get through tough periods when they first come to the crease. They are getting starts but not going on with it, but I think that will come with more test experience. I'm actually looking forward to the West Indies series, I think we can do well.

Have to say I've noticed a bit of it - but after listening to the nonsense served up by Bruce Yardley and friends in the Bangladesh series, I'd happily rather hear cricket related banter, even if its a little off topic from the test, from the Channel Nine team. And to be fair, you can't expect to analyse every delivery in depth, it'd just get tedious. A little humour or banter between the commentators is entertainment, and thats part of the Channel Nine package.
