What is the wording about the spirit of the game?
They did nothing wrong, certainly nothing to suggest they have ruined the spirit of the game. Hogg came on as a substitute fielder when Watson was injured, he was not used as the super-sub. Then when it was decided that Watson would not come back, Hogg replaced Hayden and Hayden fielded in place of Watson. Fairly simple to understand and certainly not outside the rules.

Not really, as the Martyn one wasn't at all convincing, the super slowmo showed that.

Trescothick's looked very much gone.

Ah well, who gives a turd, England have it wrapped up anyway.
The ball's path moved several degrees, if it wasn't an edge, I don't know what it was... Still, it ain't mattering.

Aye, good work. We aren't in a position to criticise with the way we use Solanki (and Prior), either.

It affects Richard's first-chance-which-isn't-to-Rampers-average, and robs TEC of a mindless drone opportunity.

The sub not replacing the injured player?
Hello! There is nothing in the rules that says the sub has to replace an injured player. If Hogg had of stayed out there for 10 overs while they wait for a diagnosis on Watson and he hadn't bowled, then he hasn't been used as the sub has he?

Err, did Solanki replace an injured player? No?

Why should Australia give up their full substitution for something they are entitled under the rules to use another sub for? Hogg was subbed for Hayden, as per the new rules, and Hayden came on for the injured Watson, as per the old rules.

No, I'm saying that Sp over-reacts.
Over-reacting would be to say Strauss should be dropped from the team, stating it was a moronic dismissal is merely a statement of fact.

Oh, looky.

England have just gone past the 'Australia will have no difficulty in defending' what was it? 180?

GLA-induced collapse in 3102....3101....3100....3299....

Still not counting any chickens, though.

Edit:

Didn't mean to ADD another 200 seconds there, but I suppose it's fitting really.

Hopefully Australia will get the sub system right in the next game. That is... pick five bowlers, batsman as sub. Give Kasprowicz a run to stake his claim for the third Ashes spot, and put Hussey or Clarke as the sub.
