No, I didn't think he would either. As for with the bat, we'll have to wait and see!

His only previous innings opening in SA he got 55*, but it was against Kenya!

Tendulkar/Ganguly/Sehwag can all bowl a bit, but one cannot always rely on them to bowl ten overs. And if India goes in with just 4 regular bowler, and one of those bowler, say Kartik or Harbhajan happen to have a bad day then India will have serious problem in having someone fill in for those bowlers.
Yup...then we will allways beat you :D

Fortunately, even in such a bleak scenario when most team will fancy their chances against India, England will still get beaten!! England need to have their first choice 11 to be fit to have any realistic chance of a victory, but knowing the English cricketer, i know its impossible!

Man never underestimate England they are a real good O.D.I team , and no doubt Gough and everyone will be fit by then... England almost won the Natwest .... but India were the better team them , no doubt they will be a more confident team in the Wlcup

Gough's out of the World Cup - he may return next season, I'd say it's about 65-35 in favour of that happening.

Ok, i'm being serious over here.England have a fairly good test side( if all players are fit) but they definately have a poor oneday side.Interestingly England have done well in past WC's , got to the finals three time, but the current English team would struggle to even reach the super six!

No, England have a good ODI team, as shown by good performances lately. Don't underestimate them. Also India may have won the trophy in the Summer but England could still have won it. I don't think they will struggle. I think India and England are about neck and neck with England better at bowling but weaker at batting. But they ultimatly even each other out.

Well we disagree then. England haven't done wonders recently, lost 10 of the last 20 onedayers, hardly impressive.Even had England won the NW trophy, things wouldn't have been much different!

And India have lost a ODI series to the WIndies, which England haven't for quite a while...

Yes, but to a very different WI team than the one which England faced on last occasion.Still India's record stands good, have lost just 5 of the last 20 onedayers:)

I think you will find that quite a few of the players in the WIndies Squad were in that team 3 years ago...Gayle, Hinds, Dillon, Jacobs, Powell to name but a few...

Also the WIndies are rated at number 6 in the ODI ratings. I think that loosing to one of the lower ranked teams is hardly the performance of a World Cup winning team.

Mind you...England haven't been to the West Indies for awhile and thats where they've been their toughest.

Arn't they going there next winter? I hope so, would be a good chance for England to get some more wins under their belts and also get some sun ;)

I never said that England faced a totally different WI team then, you may find some names in that series which was drawn 1-1. The names you won't find in that series are Samuel, Hooper,Chanderpaul,Lawson,Collins & Cuffy. I do think by excluding these players,WI team will be weakened considerably.
As for the ranking, if you go strickly by it then its good enough for all of us, as England aren't placed much higher.

I think England is due to go there sometime in the next year & a half.
But i wouldn't count on the wins being easy..lol.
The West Indies especially in the One-Dayers are tricky to beat at home.
