**Official** India v Pakistan

Eyes not spreadsheets
I was meaning it more in the scenario where India were expected to win that First Test, but a fine rearguard saved the day.

I understand what you are saying, but I wouldn't say Pakistan are 'expected' to win this test. I think if you go back to point where India were 'favourites' to win the first test, and compare it to now where apparently Pakistan are favourites (I'm not sure of the official odds), I'd say India had much better odds to win that test compared to this one. Pakistan are in a better position, but India were in a dominant position in that test. A win looked almost certain. Here its not at that stage at all.

Granted as I say this Pakistan will probably run through India and square the series. But I just think that though its going to take some very solid batting from India to draw this game (or even possibly, though unlikely, win it), its going to take some brilliant bowling from Pakistan to win. Extremely brilliant.

Except it's 358, which makes it 3.98 runs per over. No team has ever chased that many runs at that rate of scoring. The closest example would be when Australia scored 404/3 in the 4th innings to beat England in 1948, scoring at around 3.5 runs per over - but they had Bradman, after all. :p I don't think anyone will be consciously trying to keep up with the required rate apart from Sehwag, who will probably be trying to triple it.
This match came close.

7.1 Abdul Razzaq to Gambhir, no run, excellent delivery first up,
pitched close to the off stump and swinging away, Gambhir follows
it and gets beaten

7.3 Abdul Razzaq to Gambhir, no run, oooh! another excellent delivery,
swinging away late, Gambhir pushes forward to defend, ball clips
the edge and goes behind, umpire Taufel tuns down the appeal!
snicko meter picks up an edge, the bat was hitting the ground as
well

Two close calls already in just the second over of the day, should be hard work for India.

Sehwag this time
Oh man, I have never seen Inzamam so furious
Sami appealed only after seeing Inzi jumping around, but bowden got it right..

and all that tension gets this man excited!, but very tough out there

Took care of the run-rate of 3 overs

9.6 Abdul Razzaq to Sehwag, FOUR, make that three in a row! another
good length delivery dispatched to the fence, this time driven
straight down the ground to the long-on boundary, it's all
happening here!
9.5 Abdul Razzaq to Sehwag, FOUR, bit of width outside the off stump,
smashed through the cover region, typical Sehwag shot
9.4 Abdul Razzaq to Sehwag, FOUR, good length delivery outside the off
stump, Sehwag goes after it and ends up with a thick edge, just
past the diving Asim Kamal at gully, was in the air for sometime
but wide of the fielder

I can't see why Razzaq is bowling...why not bring on Kaneria? Surely he can use his wily spin to get Sehwag out.....

what happened sehwag309? im not watching the match
Well, Gambhir was out..he nicked it and I think he got benefit of doubr coz the bat came close to ground/shoe as well

Then Sami to Sehwag, same stuff like that Sachin Dismissal where Bowden scrwed up, Sami went up after seeing others go up

Inzamam, unbelievably furious...never seen him like that

Butt came in in drink break that Sehwag wasn't out

Then again in Drink Brea, Inzi kinda arguing with Bowden and thru amateur lip reading and finger movement he must be talking abt the 2 decisons if not abt his life and career

I am imagining it as Sehwag getting out by hitting 1 in the air..

This is what I wrote in the 2nd over of the match on another forum

I'll tell you, the way Gambhir comes outta the crease for a run when there's not one can cost him dearly at some point
