**Official** India v Pakistan

It would be really interesting if India has the guts to go for the victory... I don't' see why not, as someone already mentioned, it's just 328 off 540 balls. And that would give Pakistan a chance as well. I would just hate for this be a draw, I want a result!

yesterday Sehwag said that india were not losing and that if we add another quick 100 runs on day 4, the pressure will be on pakistan. that tells u viru's not going for a draw here.

Except it's 358, which makes it 3.98 runs per over. No team has ever chased that many runs at that rate of scoring. The closest example would be when Australia scored 404/3 in the 4th innings to beat England in 1948, scoring at around 3.5 runs per over - but they had Bradman, after all. :p I don't think anyone will be consciously trying to keep up with the required rate apart from Sehwag, who will probably be trying to triple it.

Whatever it takes!!!
It was sheer harakiri that was committed by the Indian batters. All one has to do is to look at how many good deliveries got wickets in the Indian first innings.

Gambhir = poor poor shot, catching practise along the lines of what Woolmer would have given to Younis before the start of play

Sehwag = lost concentration, tapped the ball straight to the bowler (a harmless ball, really)

Dravid = extravagant sweep and basically needless

Tendulkar = looking to go over the top when quick scoring was not THAT important. It is another matter that when it was important, him and his mates looked to bat out time.

Ganguly = less said the better :@

Kaarthick = cut an outside the offstump ball. Bad stroke as stumps was approaching.

Pathan = catching practice, this time to the point fielder, easily his worst series so far

Harbhajan = extremely stupid shot

Balaji = unlucky to be given out, but still a very bad shot

With the exception of Kumble, everyone fell to bad strokes and that should get the attention of Wright.

Right. Scoring fast in test matches is extremely difficult. I remember in the 2001 series between Australia and New Zealand the New Zealanders were set 283 to win in 57 overs at a touch under 5 an over and got most of the way there only to have McGrath keep them out by bowling well wide of off stump with a defensive field in the dying overs. Eventually they made 6/274 and the test was drawn. Then later in that series Australia was set 440 at exactly 4 an over and could only manage 7/381 even with Gilchrist going off. Eventually they lost too many wickets and had to shut up shop and block out the draw. So, big totals at any rate above 4 are very difficult. Still, if there's ever a time I can see it happening it's from the current Australian or Indian teams on a flat wicket against mediocre bowling, which is what we have here. All three results are definately possible tomorrow.

Almost a year ago, South Zone had a mammoth target of over 500 to chase on the final day, against England A in the Duleep Trophy. They went in with a plan- to keep their wickets intact and target one particular bowler for over 10 runs an over, but stick to the basics- running between wickets and occupying the crease. The Indian team should look at that chase and do the same. Agreed, that England A side was one of the weakest, but that was South Zone chasing, not a full India squad.

If they had Shoaib, then yes, they could win. But right now they have the weakest bowling besides Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, how can you bowl out such a strong batting team like India in 90 overs. Only if the batsmen commit some serious stupidity. The win for India is more likely IMO.

Pakistan can bowl out india in 90 overs, its the same situation as the last test match where it went upto the last day.....and believe me keneria is an excellent bowler, he will be a big worry for india, he has already taken 5 wickets in the first innings, so i think pakistan have a big big chance tommarrow but they need to put the pressure early on similar to what india did in the last match.

Draw is like Indian win
A bit like a draw in Game 1 was like a Pakistani win.

I must say I'm not so sure Pakistan will get 10 wickets, but one must remember that the Indian tail has looked long so even if they only get 5 in the first 2 sessions they shouldn't lose faith.

Except in this case, a draw will earn India a series win, where as Pakistan's draw onlu kept them from going one down. Though India would have clearly been shattered, there were two more tests to allow for a series win. If this match is a draw, another huge partnership (Younis + Youhana in the previous test, Younis + Inzy in this one) will go to waste and not result in a positive 'result' for Pakistan, which those two partnerships deserved.

Pakistan just plain have to win. The first hour is going to be very interesting.
