Surely Pankaj SIngh must be looked at by the Indian selectors.
He's played a number of seasons at first class level now and has done very well of late.

He's also six foot five which would add a very different dimension to the attack.
Indian seamers don't usually tend to get to that kind of height.
I looked into this and this is his second season in a row, doing exceptionally in First Class cricket. So it is understandable why he has not been looked at until now. After the past four seasons though, he should really be looked at as one of the top contenders.

Yeah I want Pankaj Singh in the squad at the very least.

I don't understand why we took him to Australia in 2007/08 in the squad and then never did so again
Inconsistency by Indian selectors. We've seen it with loads of bowlers before. Picked for the squad and then dropped without explanation, what about Dhawal Kulkarni and Balaji for the New Zealand tour, or Gagandeep Singh for a Bangladesh tour a few years back.

The Indian attack looks so much better with Zaheer and so totally toothless without him. I wonder who is going to take his place when he retires????? Massive contributor to his side's success over the years.
India won against New Zealand and in Sri Lanka without him. But yes, they do depend on him a lot. But it shouldn't take away anything from India's dominatory position as Australia back in 05 faltered in England immediately on losing Mcgrath.

India will not be as strong if they lose Zaheer IMO just like Australia are just not that good without McGrath and Warne.

We won a series-tying Test in SL with Sehwag as our strike bowler and Ishant, Mithun, Ojha and Mishra backing him up...
Marcus North has a 6fer against Pakistan and Michael Clarke has a 6fer against India..does not make them a 'challenge'

As for Ojha...from what I saw of him..I cant see anything special.. he might improve though.
But Murali Karthik in my view was a better left arm spinner than Ojha

I don't know about Karthik being better than Ojha. Nothing special about both at this stage but I would choose Ojha over Karthik.

Well no Karthik's career is as good as over..but I remember him from a few years ago against Austraila in 04 and he was bowling really well..something I am unable to say about Ojha.

Though It's good to see some Sreesanth love, Let's not get carried away here.

Nah, the team cannot carry bowlers like the present Sreesanth even if you have 2 world-class bowlers playing for you. He has bowled well two times in the past one year. Once to Oz's tail in B'lore 5th day, once y'day. He is not inconsistent yet delivers overall like say, Johnson. Atm, He is just the worst kind of bowler imaginable. Erratic, expensive and unpenetrative.

I think us carrying Sharma too make him (along with Sree) look a little better than they actually are. No way should Sreesanth be in the test team atm based on performance. He obv should play the next game because he bowled well in Durban but the only time he deserved a game was against Oz (Both in Mohali and B'lore), carrying him for the next 5 games is a complete joke.

Using Johnson as an example of an inconsistent bowler, Zaheer as a good one and Sreesanth as a pathetic one:-

Performances in 2010:-

Zaheer:- 5,10,3,4,8,4,3,4,6 - 47 wickets in 9 games @ 21.97

Johnson:-5,1,2,10,1,2,5,3,0,9,2 - 40 wickets in 11 games @ 34.17

Sreesanth:- 2,2,2,4,2,0,4 - 16 wickets in 7 games @ 48.25

Sree's not inconsistent atm, He's just consistently ****. When he bowls well he doesn't tear down the opposition and when he doesn't bowl well, he goes for 5 an over.

OK forget Hawkeye if you want. A third umpire with replays is still a hell of a lot more reliable than the onfield umpire. An lbw is so complicated: you have to check for where the ball lands, where it hits the pads, whether there is bat and where the ball is going, all in a split second. It's remarkable that good umpires get so many of them right but it's ridiculous to expect them to avoid mistakes. Technology is a huge help.

FWIW, I watched the highlights- there's no way that ball was hitting the stumps, with or without Hawkeye- will just have to disagree with Brumby on this one.
