*Official* India in South Africa

Then again, how much can be read into a series from 3 and a half years ago - the England team from then is so much different from that team, and there's been some changes to the Indian team.
Well I am not reading into them to predict who is going to be number 1 in the future. I am saying, that people who question the ranking system forget the wins that contributed to those points. Ranking systems are based on past results. So if India are number 1, its because they wont those series home and away against England. If South Africa are number 2, its because they won in England, Australia, drew in India etc.

Got drunk non-stop and into a lot of trouble. This was one of the best cricket moments ever. India you were awesome!

What to do about Ishant BTW? Does his place come under any threat at all for Cape Town? Actually no, there aren't any alternatives available. Looked so, so painfully ordinary on a pitch that always had something in it. Only good thing he did all match was to run Kallis out in the first innings.
Yeah It was sad watching him look so innocuous on a wicket that should have been ideal for him. However I think the problem with his bowling is 'simply' that he's lost his wrist action. I don't think he's struggling with his action (apart from the no-ball problem) or lost any pace.

Yeah I want Pankaj Singh in the squad at the very least.

I don't understand why we took him to Australia in 2007/08 in the squad and then never did so again
I think when the Indian selectors pick the additional seam option, they don't do so considering the guy might have to play if there's an injury. Rather they choose based on providing some youngster the benefit of touring and training with the national team. It's ridiculous but that's the only way I can understand the random picks of Pankaj singh, Mithun and Unadkat.

This is true. It's really annoying and they've done this to bowlers AND batsmen over the years. In fact if Zaheer didn't get injured after the first test on that tour of Australia I doubt Ishant would have played and might have got dropped just like Pankaj Singh.

He has lost pace. Was constantly bowling 140Ks+(frequently hitting 145-148) in his first year and a half of test cricket.

Yeah, his wrist snap was somewhat reminiscent of Gillespie when he was bowling to Ponting at Perth. Shame it's completely fallen away.

agree on Ishant seems to have really regressed and has been lucky recently that he's picking wickets with innocuous deliveries which come during a period where no pressure is being created.Hopefully some Sree doubters can shut up now yeah he's a **** but he has the abilty to bowls balls which can even trouble great batsman not a world beater but a mighty effective bowler.

The Indian attack looks so much better with Zaheer and so totally toothless without him. I wonder who is going to take his place when he retires????? Massive contributor to his side's success over the years.

Hope India make Zaheer the bowling tactician or something to that effect when he retires. Behind the scenes stuff I mean.

Saurav Ganguly first and then Rahul Dravid did that by making him bowling captain just few years ago. Kaif and Yuvraj were fielding captains under the captainship of Ganguly as well.
