He wasn't allowed to.
ratra, is a much better keeper and a batsman than parthiv. i have said this. ratra, even hit a 100 against wi in wi, but hasnt got too many chances.CDAK said:amit,
u are seen very harsh on patel and asking more for Ratra. Did u forget that Ratra had/has poor keeping skills than Patels?
It's amazing that no one remembered the best wicket keeper batsman India had/had now...Nayan Mongia. The one and only prblm with him is/was he never dives for a catch and always expect the first slip to do the job for him. barring this, he can be both attcking and defensive to any sort of bowling.(he had scored a 150 against aus in delhi 4 yrs back).
But, he is a real victim of favourism. He was accused of having ill-character and making groups in team(just gossip). So, Captain doesn't like him. That's y he is not in the team.
Y should India train somebody(more clearly, Parthiv) by giving chance in the national team while others are waiting for chances with proven talent?Give patel chance to play in the state games and get matured, but not in the National team...
..bring back Nayan Mongia

A second thing to be noted, Australia did it without McGrath, Lee and Warne.rajat said:One thing to be noted: India did it without Tendulkar.
forget warne..he cannot do (hasn't yet done, even warne admits)anything on Indian toporderLinda said:A second thing to be noted, Australia did it without McGrath, Lee and Warne.

I think rain had a major say in causing the match to be a draw. (566 minutes lost)CDAK said:So India needs to be there for stopping Australia's run.
1) India stopped aus's continuous run of victories(15?).
2) Only India could snatch test series form aus.(last series in India)
3)Again, India needed to be there for holding aus in a draw out of the last 22 tests.
4)To score highest run in a day agaist aus, again India...
...beware Aus, ur terminator is on ur soil. ..don't take them lightly

Still haven't seen too much evidence that the series, ceteris paribus, will go any other way than too the Aussies with something to spare.jamesryfler said:Neil Pickup and others declaring what a thrashing India would get based on their form in the leadup matches
Obviously rain had played some roles in the final result.,but remember ,irrespective of losing time ,Aus had won many tests and not ended in draw. So some extra effort from India was there. Let's see what happens when McGrath and Lee comes back. But i think, these Indian batting line up can manage those two, probably after an initial struggle. McGrath had been tamed by Sachin on many occasions(reverse also).mavric41 said:I think rain had a major say in causing the match to be a draw. (566 minutes lost)
Still it was refreshing to see India take the fight to Australia and not be intimidated. They just need a couple of seamers to back up Zaheer Khan.
It was exciting cricket. The only bad thing for me was Hayden getting out for 99. Still he became the first batsman to score 1000 runs in a year for 3 consectutive years.
I will be glued to the set for the next 3 tests.
