Draw :)

From a neutral's point of view (I want each to to fail equally badly) that Test has been totally unrepresentative of the teams' abilities in terms of the pitch and weather conditions being so different when each side was batting.
Neil , the first session wasn't exactly that easy to bat . But from the second session it was a very flat one and easy to bat. But you have to give credit to the Indian batsman too as they were expected to struggle but proved everyone wrong atleast in the first test.

Which is why 62/3 happened :P

I'm not trying to take anything away from Ganguly, Laxman and Patel, but I think it's too early to read anything concrete WRT the outcome of the series yet.

CDAK, nice to c u r with me. welcome to the board :) also in which part of india u live ?

i was the only one before the match to say that india will win this one. at the end of the 1st day i said that aus will be all out for less than 400 and at the end of 3rd day, i said that india will take a 1st innings lead and not only this, i also said that only rain can save aus and its only my predictions which r coming true.

it is beyond understanding that y r so many indian fans going pessimistic. guys, it is that v r playing against aus and v need optimism. best of all, this time india have performed beyond even the most optimistic expectations in this test. it is time v supported the indian team with a big hope to win.

also, india r the overwhelming favs for this series, atleast according to me

PARTHIV SUCKS

overwhelming support for parthiv.

parthiv dropped 2 catches in the tour games. in this test, his keeping has looked good. add to it, his pedestrian keeping in india.

his batting, he cant even score at 50% scoring rate and cannot even hit 4s consistently. even chopra, who scores slowly, can score quickly when asked to.

parthiv, scored very slowly and when india should have scored quickly after laxmans dismissal for a declaration, that idiot parthiv, wasted deliveries after deliveries and helped decrease indias run-rate. it was only that ganguly hit some shots, that the run-rate was still kept around 3.5

when scoring quick was the key, parthiv sucked. also, i cant understand y is this $hitty keeper being given so many chances despite his dropped catches and his slow scoring rate.

worst of all, he was even included in the odis.

ratra is the only genuine keeper india have at present.

ratra, is a good batsman as well. he can score quickly. y look only at tests. ratra, didnt get to play too many tests. he did play some odis against eng in early 2002 and scored at almost a run-a-ball in them and this shows that he can score quickly as well.

overall, ratra is a much better batsman and keeper than parthiv.

PARTHIV SUCKS :!(

those stupid fuccking umpires :!(

umpiring has been total bull$hit in this series :!(
No matter what your opinoins are, there is still no need for that sort of language.

Remember some decisions went in India's favour as well.

Bunny is batting ala Glenn McGrath. I believe ferret is someone worse than that (which is why the term is so rare  )
Ferrets are sent in after Rabbits in the country (to kill them)

Hence a ferret is a batsman who comes in after the Rabbits!

But calling AA a rabbit is a disgrace, the man has a Test Century!

Only rain saved India on Day 1, and is the key factor in the game if you ask me:

In only 62 overs (approx 2 sessions) they scored 262-2

Had they had a full day's play, it would've been up around 400, and the game up!

Although this match will end in a draw....but the thing which should be kept in mind is the way india performed...i thought they played much better than the Australians and it might be because of Zaheer Khan, and if he or Nehra or Agarkar can perform the same in the next test match than india might clinch the match.
Yes, after the 1st Day they did compete, but to say played much better is a bit OTT.

I can't believe Khan and Nehra could be worse than McGrath. Ok he can hang around sometimes, but he's worse than a ferret!

Are you refering to the one this time around in the Windies , I cant even remember if Bucknor was the umpire , but I remember one of the quicks , might have been Dillon , Lawson , Drakes (I dunno exactly , it was 4am out here when I watched it , think it was Dillon) padded up to a ball from MacGill which pitched about 2 inches outside off , turned & consequently would have missed it by close to a foot , and it was given out , the thrid worst decision I've ever seen.

Surely you remember this one Liam ?
Yes I do. The umpiring in that series was largely quite poor, with Lara getting a couple of true shockers.

I remember an Asoka classic, when Lara went for a straight drive/block shot and got a massive inside edge which deflected onto the pad. For some reaso the fielders began to appeal and Asoka promptly gave it out. Amazing.

1/ PP 38.14 v AC 37.29

2/ When Laxman was dismissed, India was 50 runs behind. Had Patel gone for shots and gotten out, that would have exposed the duck specialist and the Indian tail. India could have, in all likelihood, been bolwed out for under 300. Australia could then have knocked up 50odd runs by the close of play. Besides, if Ganguly was playing shots, Patel didn't really have to be going great guns.

3/ Unless he's totally transformed his game since, I've seen Ratra and he's really not very good at all.

To hell with evidence!
I'm looking forward to the day a lawyer tries to use the 'Amits Defence' in court.

"It is my contention, m'Lud, that the defendent couldn't have perpetrated the crime. Despite the facts that his car contained 35 television sets, he has 150 previous convictions for handling stolen television sets and he is the managing director of 'Tellys-R-Us' and 'Tailboard Knockoffs (Tellys)' AND there are forty witnesses to the crime, I maintain that he did not do it. He requires such a number of television sets for his own use because he has watched the film 'The Fly' so many times that he has developed compound eyes."

Amit my friend,

I think you have really been smoking the 'whacky tobacci' mate. For one you constantly think that India will win the series against a champion side playing at home,

and two by saying Parthiv 'sucks'.

Have you seen Patel??

I commend him in every way, shape and form. Your around Parthiv's age, are you good enough to Wicket keep to Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh on turning tracks in India???

Parthiv IS GOOD ENOUGH

Are YOU brave enough to face guys like Shane Bond, Jason Gillespie and Brad Williams whilst batting??

I think not,

Parthiv is BRAVE ENOUGH

International Cricket is no joke, the young guy is only 18 years of age and is technically one of the best wicketkeepers in India I have seen, both with the gloves and with the bat.

Give him a fair go Amit.

He made the Under 17 India side when he was 15, to his credit, and the India Under 19 side when he was 16. He made his test debut at 17 and saved India at Trent Bridge.

If he is this good now, imagine what he will be like at 25???

Parthiv is special for India. And this is a test match Amit, not a ODI.

If Parthiv had played rash shots and gotten out, YOU AMIT would've been the first one to criticise Parthiv on playing rash.

Dont be a hypocrite, just give Parthiv a fair go.

As for Ratra, his PATHETIC stats speak for themselves.

PARTHIV SUCKS :!(
Parthiv batted well, very solid, yeah he scored slowly early but the batting conditions would have been very difficalt for him the pitch takes getting used to anbd it would be bouncier than he was used to, but he is still there, he saw off the 2nd new ball and batted quite well.

As much as i hate to say it ganguly also batted very well :( played some good shots especially given the conditions.

unfortunatley there is not much either side can do to avoid a draw, i cant see Ganguly declaring soon, and given India's batting sis its strength , despite batting last they would be unlikley to be bowled out in less than half a day, so steve waugh wil prbably not bother declaring either.

A draw is almost a certainty, but there are plenty of 'Brownie points' at stake.

Another 50 or 100 runs gives India the chance to have another free crack at the Aussie upper order again this afternoon - and who knows? Perhaps inflict a few psychological scars.

Alternatively, the Aussies could roll over the Indian tail and blast away for a few hours, then give India an uncomfortable 20 or 30 overs at the end of the day.

Psychological scars inflicted in the first test might have an effect later in the series.

At least this series is shaping up to be decidedly more interesting than the Bangladesh/Zimbabwe debarcle. We're finally getting some good cricket.
