Tendulkar lbw Gillespie for a second ball 0

His 3rd duck , 2 of them against Australia.

Dreadful decision , half appeal , ball would have gone over by 6 inches.

3-62:D

It was a bizarre decision.

Gillespie was walking back to his marker when Bucknor put the finger up.
The ball was going miles over the stumps & I actually recall Bucknor making a similar decision against the New Zealanders in Hobart a few years back...McGrath had appealled & everyone had given up when Bucknor just suddenly put his finger up.

I remember that clearly , first ball of day 5 , McGrath to Fleming from around the wicket , it hit him right in front & Bucknor actually took a full 8 seconds to give it , the difference was that Fleming was plumb on that occasion.

When they asked later why he'd taken so long to give it , Bucknor said , "I was looking for a reason not to give it , but I couldnt find one"

Well yeah, I recall McGrath stood in the middle looking around to the other players who were confused as to why it wasn't out & then Bucknor decided to put the finger up.

Well looks like the Chopra decision made up for Tendulkar, Steve Bucknor is having an ordinary test...

Well, it was a very poor decision by Bucknor, but a totally stupid one by Tendulkar in just thrusting the pad out.

I have little sympathy for batsmen who don't play a shot at a ball pitching a couple of inches outside off stump - and neither has Bucknor, it seems.

You have a piece of wood in your hands - seems that Sachin has one above his shoulders too.

yea really bad decision by Bucknor..shocking actually.. he took so much time to think that i would have thought he would have got it right.. it isint that hard to miss seeing the ball is rising..?

but ganguly and chopra seem to be carryin on well.. ganguly is left his hiccup start behind..

Chopra has really impressed me. I thought he would struggle abroad like all other openers , but he has batted really well.

Gillespie bowling superbly, really leading from the Front...
Andy Bichel seems to be very much below his best at the moment, he may struggle to hold his spot..

On one bad decision? Bucknor is still one of the best umpires in the game, if not the best.

It seems to me you are very intent on blaming the bad decision from Bucknor on Tendulkar. Maybe, just maybe, he thrust his pad out because he knew that the ball was going to miss the stumps and didn't want the bat to get in the way of the ball going to the wicket keeper (in fear of edging it?) It was only the third ball of Sachin's innings; I don't blame him if he wants to take more than mere two balls to settle in before playing his shots.

I would suggest you give your head a good shake if it seems to you that one of the best batsmen of current age has a head made out of wood.

If you want to take shots at Sachin, there are far better reasons and opportunities to do so than a time when he's victimized by a poor umpiring decision.

I presume you're watching the match Eddie...but even the best batsmen can sometimes miss-read the line of a ball.

It was a pretty good ball from Gillespie because it looked like it was going to move away from off-stump but it cut back in & Tendulkar was left exposed.

Let's face it, Bucknor made a bad decision, but so do all the other umpires..its part of the game now (well, noticed more since tv replays began) & no doubt Australia will get a few during this series also.

1. That Ganguly should declare behind or as soon as they get 323 to make a game of it (ala Stephen Fleming 2 years back).

2. That Australia are still favourites to win the series 3-0

3. That Andy Bichel is really on the way out:(
