*Official* India in Australia Thread

This is awesome stuff from Ganguly and Laxman. Bichel is being hit to all parts of the ground. The only bowler to have troubled the Indians has been Gillespie. India should make 350 and declare.

This series is not going to be as one sided as I thought. Now I am going to say India is going to win at least 1 match.

If this test were to turn into a match like the one 2 years ago between NZ & Aus, I wonder how generous Waugh would be...we all know he says no matter what, Australia play for a result, but with a batting lineup like India's he may have second thoughts.

1. That Ganguly should declare behind or as soon as they get 323 to make a game of it (ala Stephen Fleming 2 years back).

2. That Australia are still favourites to win the series 3-0

3. That Andy Bichel is really on the way out:(
already scared of india

ur points 1 and 3 tell the story and point 2 is just wishful thinking.

nobody out here except me had expected india to take a 1st innings lead and here we r, with that 1st innings lead.

u want ganguly to declare at 323

i say that india should bat till 15 overs into tommorow and give aus 90 overs to bat. (day 4 and 5 r 105 over days)

by that time, india should try and hit 523. india would have played 126 overs by then and at 4 an over, it is 504. no prob in playing 1-2 more overs to get 523 and take a 200 run lead, before ind knocks the aussies out cheaply and wins the match by an innings or 8-10 wickets.

The concern will be Bichel...he has been extremely erratic & if he can't bowl a decent amount of overs in the 2nd innings then that could really be dangerous for Australia.

lol amits, thats too much. India don't have the lead yet in the first innings. They are still 60 runs short. Lets wait and see what happens. I really wish Sachin got a bat, but that wasn't to be.

And as I say that, Laxman creams steve Waugh to the boundary thorough point.

India are firmly in control now...It's possible that once India get to 323, Waugh's hand could be forced.

He will know that India will be very capable of knocking off 150-200 runs in quick time so whether he is willing to allow India to take a 1-0 lead will be interesting.

I still think Ganguly will be looking to get to 323 as quickly as possible, there is no point looking for a lead..if they want a result then they need to get Australia batting again soon after they pass Australia's score.

Surely as an Indian fan it's better than the alternative though!
An alternative can also be a WIN FOR INDIA, and the way Indian batsmen are playing, India seems to have an edge (so far).

India has a long tail, and thats going to be a problem. If Patel can stick with Ganguly for some time than India might be able to take a good lead.I believe even a 60-75 run lead could be very precious for India.

Tendulkar seems to get strange decisions in Aus, such decisions are not good for cricket really!

This comment has no basis as there are no Aussie umpires in this match, so i suggest this comment is dropped as it has no backup...

I don't think he was talking about aussie umpires being biased and giving bad decisions to Sachin. I remember in the 1999 tour, he got a strange LBW decision as well. The bowler(I don't remember who) bowled a bouncer, only it didn't bounce too much and kept low. Poor Sachin ducked and it hit him on the helmet and he was given out LBW. However, it was too high to be given out.
