I don't really care who wins this series, but its great to see Australia in a bit of a struggle
I wonder how much of it is a struggle and how much is the conditions. Until we see what the Indian line-up can do we won't know.

The thing to remember about the Indian line up is the top 6 are strong, but from 7 downwards it rapidly deteriorates.

In fact, I'm wondering how many lower orders in World Cricket at the moment are worse?

I'm wondering how many top orders are worse  . Yes, I know that's a stupid thing to say given they are very talented yet very inconsistent. They might be good but their most recent Australian performances suck.

Well I would love to see players like Ganguly, Sehwag & Laxman spend a couple of years playing all their home tests on NZ wickets to see how much their averages decrease (or even increase if they're that good).

Indian wickets are very generous for lifting batting averages & I think apart from maybe Tendulkar & Dravid you could take -10 off the rest of them in overseas matches.

Laxman is better than an average of 34 , he was poor in New Zealand yes , mainly becuase he played away from his body against the swinging ball , but he's still a better player than 34.

The Australians will bowl a wider line to him & Tendulkar than to the rest to frustrate them into driving on the up away from their bodies.

There's no greater judge of the game than the game itself.

If he averages 34 it is for a reason.

If it were on first chances and loose shots, he'd be averaging 0.05!

Certainly makes things interesting.

I expect Gillespie to lead the charge and for the Aussie seam attack to make very light work of the Indian batting line up.

Don't count out a follow on.

whoa went to my neigbours had a few beers and a good time.. came back later in the night and checked 325/9 Aus:O :O :O i kinda switched the tv off thinkin the rain will keep the game off..

But damn thats a pretty good comeback from india.. Congrats to Zaheer on his 5'er in aus.. and im sure he will learn a lot.. although i would like to see kumble in 2nd test because harbajan isint doing much.. and maybe Pathan for Nehra as pathan seems to be taking 1-2 wickets in the preliminary matches which is really useful !

well day 2 certainly belonged to the Indians. Getting Aus for 323 is no mean feat. If they had bowled this well on day 1, the Australian score would have been much lower.

But this match is far from over. Amits, wake up from your slumber mate. Even I would like India to win but its highly improbable thats going to happen. Australia are the world champs and have a good bowling attack. And the conditions are seamer friendly. The Indian batting lineup is suscecptible in these conditions agaisnt the best bowlers. They could be out for 150-200, you never know.

I think the result will either be a draw (the damn rain) or an Aussie win.

That pitch was seaming all over the place today. Its been warm and overcast here today. Zaheer bowled well and the Indians fielded quite well too. A clear day Saturday will tell which way this match is going.

what's with Waugh and weird dismissals against India.... he was out "handling the ball" against India 2 years ago in the Chennai test and now he is out "hit wicket"

Yes Tim, batsmen like Ganguly and Sehwag would have lower averages if they played regularly on NZ like wickets.

Likewise if the NZ quicks played regularly in Indian Like conditions
or even Australian like conditions would their averages be so great ? Doesn't Tuffey has a huge discrepancy between his averages at home and away -- something like 19 at home 45 away. Hell that's worse than Anil Kumble.

Nz's performance away in recent years may have been better but traditionally they haven't been much better tourists than India,
because they have contained their own set of duds away from home.

I think he's trying to retire as the first player to be dismissed in all 10 ways in Test Cricket!

And in his final Test, Timed Out as he wanted to make the crowd wait as long as possible before he made his final entry to the field as a batsman!

Nope.

Harbhajan will be involved - but it will be much more subtle than that.

You see, he will invite Steve round to the hotel the night before and prepare a slap-up Indian meal for him.

He will come to the wicket the next day and take guard within the normal 2 minutes, but the old curry will then do its work. A quick look at the umpire, a nod of approval and off will go Steve, back to the dressing-room.

The players will have a quick, impromptu drinks break, he will do what he has to do and race back out - only to race back again.

After another half an hour of this, he will be the first person to be dismissed boweled
