They're all a long long way down the pecking order, that's what.
nothing, suggests that they will ever be higher up it or good enough for the sort of level mentioned either.

I'm a fan of Nolan. Reo-Coker will probably play for England sometime, imo. Whether he'll be a success is another matter. No keen on the other two, though.

Why? None of Lennon, Pennant & SWP are the finished product. The latter two are nowhere near. And Gerrard's only playing there out of him and Lampard's inability to click.
Yea we know about the problems Gerrard/Lampard have had playing together in the centre of the park, but we all have seen Gerrard play right-side for the reds so hopefully he can turn the position his own & then he'll have a good back-up from either Lennon more so, SWP, Pennant to come & run at the defense in the latter part of the game. I don't see a future for Beckham on the right especially if England are going to adapt to playing a fast paced game.

I like Joey Barton, poor man’s Stevie G but his all action and I like his directness. Off the field matters would go against him but if a convicted racist still harbours hopes of playing for England, why not Barton.

Whereas Nolan is a decent goal getting midfielder, nothing more. Reo-Coker decent tank and looks an intelligent player but with the CB situation. We almost have a bottomless pit of decent midfielders and in no apparent want for more.

Not a fan of Kieran Dyer, completely wasted his talented, believe his twenty seven now as well and with three or four major knee surgeries behind him, for a player who really only had pace. You gotta question his future.

Yeah I got that, my point was that it's not so totally outlandish a shout if the bookies are making us favourites.
All those bookies are looking to make a fortune out of idiots who will slap money on England whatever the likelihood and they've only made us favourites because it saves them money if it unbelievably comes through. :p

yeah...after playing well....he deserves it far more than any of the others you have just mentioned.
when did Jenas do well for England?, i honestly cant remember doing much for the spurs since he joined them TBH & can't see him getting too much 1st team oppurtunity there this season, he should be near the England side along with Richardson & Phil Neville. Nolan was very impressive for Bolton last season & definately was very close to a world cup call up, Reo-coker was very inspiration in the West Ham getting to the FA Cup final & was on standby & Barton was pretty solid for City..

That was an excellent game with Brazil & Argentina earlier, full of pace & superb skills i would love to see England play like that in Euro 2008, since we have the players capable of doing it.
I disagree, are players are far more direct and all action, Joe Cole (possibly Rooney) is probably the only player who can draw any sort of comparison on a technical level. That’s not meant to undermine are players, Stevie G is one of the best players in the world but that’s not his game and you can not expect such things.

Also Brazil and Argentina are notoriously slow, slow, quick, quick, slow, whereas you only have to see Owen Hargreaves (or watch the English Premiership) run around like a mentalist to see what we are all about.

Yeah, I'd say those two (Rooney & Cole) are the only two players who capable of going round people without having to use blind pace to do it.

Stick to what we're good at, and what the Prem does, and play at high, constant tempo.

jenas has performed very consistantly for spurs since signing for them actually.
Jenas is a decent player but i wouldnt say he is any better than Nolan or Barton and Scot Parker is better than all three.

Yea big fan of Parker also, but with Hargreaves making the DM position his own & Carrick his major rival its going to be hard for Parker to get a nod for England unless somehow he can transform into a goal-scoring mid-fielder for the magpies.
