I agree about you have to beat what is put in front of you and England did that but that doesnt mean they deserve and special praise or for that matter any critisism. This game gives us nothing. We will have to wait before we can judge Mclaren

It amazes me how negative some people can be about things like this. England have played two games under Steve McClaren, scored no less than nine goals and not conceded any. Regardless of the optimism, that should not be cause for pessimism. Bring on Macedonia. :)

Brazil score again after being under the cosh for last 10 mins.

And it has been confirmed, Carlos Tevez is the ugliest player since Luke Chadwick graced us with his presence. :p

TBF we are favourites! From oddschecker:

Best odds you can get on us are 6.8/1 with Pinnacle. Think you can put it down to the patriotic pound tho.
I was being sarcastic I'm afraid ol' chap, as he'd suggested I was saying England were good for Euro 2008 after beating Andorra.

People are far to quick to jump on new players and coaches in this country and to be quite honest, England didn't do anything wrong yesterday. They scored early, they didn't get out of second gear and won 5-0.

What would a 21-0 victory have proved other than Andorra were crap? I reserve judgment on McLaren for the team's performance in the important games but he hasn't done owt wrong yet so I won't criticise him.

Things getting a bit heated in the Brazil-Argies game, then about 6 people run onto the pitch to help out the ref.

Kaka then overshadows it all by running from his own half, making Argentina look rubbish and slotting one away.

Yeah I got that, my point was that it's not so totally outlandish a shout if the bookies are making us favourites.

Well fair enough then. But my point still stands; two goals in three tournaments (both in losing causes) isn't that flash for our main striker.
only two?, lets start back from the 2002 world cup, i know he scored vs Brazil, did he score vs Denmark?, cant remember, in Euro 2004 he scored vs Portugal cant remember if he scored in the other two euro group games. But even if its only two his efforts on the pitch have been top class.

That was an excellent game with Brazil & Argentina earlier, full of pace & superb skills i would love to see England play like that in Euro 2008, since we have the players capable of doing it.

Yeah, he's almost in the Andy Johnson league when it comes to winning penalties.

Glenn Hoddle reckons we could see Beckham again for England.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/5309884.stm

He makes some fair points, obviously with the likes of Gerrard, Lennon, Pennant & SWP around i'd agree Becks days on the right if he does ever return are finished. But a central role is not out of the question if lets say come Euro 2008 & Becks is doing well at Madrid (if he is still there) & McClaren picks his sqaud & wants an experienced central mid-fielder ahead of other blokes like Nolan, Barton, Reo-coker, Dyer. But its unlikely especially if England keep up this quick-style of football they have displayed currently in the next two years.

Why? None of Lennon, Pennant & SWP are the finished product. The latter two are nowhere near. And Gerrard's only playing there out of him and Lampard's inability to click.
