Yea big fan of Parker also, but with Hargreaves making the DM position his own & Carrick his major rival its going to be hard for Parker to get a nod for England unless somehow he can transform into a goal-scoring mid-fielder for the magpies.
Which he can. Parker is not really a defensive midfealder, Mr Souness just made him play that role. He is getting a lot further forward so far this season as his goal on the opening game of the season. He is never going to score as much as Lampard but he can go foward.

Yea that was a super header, well i dont watch a lot of the magpies games usually but i normally see him play deep, but if he can score goals this season it would be great.

Can't really give one TBH, but whoever is better than one the gap can't be very big
.what a crap argument, you tell me that carrick is better than parker but then say you dont know why, donkey of a poster.

fair enough, so give your reasons why parker is better than carrick. TBH i'd say the advantage Carrick has is not having had a load of injuries. Parker has had his reputation enhanced by not playing, when i've seen him in the past he looked decent, but nothing spectacular, neither does carrick

oh geez, had to make a scene didn't you. Its not like i didn't think of a reason but i couldn't find one, for the past season they both have been playing similar roles for their respective clubs & i guess Carrick was a bit more impressive thus gettin the nod for England. Parker has always been favourite of mine since his days at Chartlon with the way he controls the game in mid-field. So really i cant separate the two much other than Parker is more of tackler while Carrick isn't.

parker is far more dynamic, not only can he tackle better, he can also give the side another edge going forward that carrick lacks. As TT Boy and i have concurred before, Carrick has always appeared to be a very average footballer, there are no aspects to his game that are above the level of average or quite good. As for getting selected for england, i would wager that were parker not injured for the last half of the season then he would have been on the plane to germany rather than carrick.

Carrick has played more football than Parker.

Parker is a VERY long way from being picked for England in my eyes because he hasn't had the games. Plus I think you're being a bit tight on Carrick, I'd say something a bit similar about Claude Makelele. He's not astounding at anything but he's won a WC and who knows how many domestic titles around Europe.

Fair enough, but i'd say Carrick is a bit better than average, based on his excellent season for the spurs last season i think his range of passing is very good & is also very good at cutting out opposition attacks.

Beg to differ there, Carrick's not really a defensive midfielder for me (as I think Sir Alex belatedly realised, hence his courting of Hargreaves) rather an old-fashioned midfield general who sits deep & controls the game by spraying passes around. In the Jan Molby (showing my age here) mold.

Carrick's passing is impressive & he has decent vision, but he's no way worth what ManUre paid.

Makelele is a fat better tackeler tham Carrick though. Carrick can certainly pass with both feet but apart from that i dont think he brings anything special to a team.

I'd have thought anyone 20 or older would know of him so that's nothing to worry about, what's far worse is using a ghastly American spelling and being a CDMs fan...

One of the more random insults I've endured. If non-sequiters are your thing tho...

Not really since Jenas is somehow still getting picked.
Actually, the fact that he is being selected and is about 6th or 7th choice centre midfielder only backs up what I've said about them being a long long way down the pecking order 8-)
