Who do reckon is the best young player in the world between Rooney, Torres, Robinho & Messi?
What if the best young player in the world isn't one of those four?

Interestingly enough, I was speaking to an 80-odd year old Man Utd. fan yesterday. Doesn't rate Rooney at all.

Potentially Rooney by a distance. He has an amazing physical presence as well as a great touch & vision. In a lull now tho, longest of his career too.

they are 21, 22, 22 & 19 respectively, cant think of too many other young players at the same age who have made a big impact of the world stage as yet.

Oh i remeber old face Robben can't believe he is 21 as well & Man U own Ronaldo, Robben's name didn't even come up in the argument..

Well, Fabregas, obviously. Different type of player, of course, but equally vital to his club & country.

Had an argument in school with some friends and not being biased towards Wazza but based on what i've seen of all of them i say Rooney is slightly better out of all of them he can muscle past defenders of use his skills are go past them and at his pest he just tips Torres as the more lethal finisher, Robinho has the most pace and is more versatile in that he can play as a foward or on both wings and look comfortable, while neither of the 4 from what i've seen are that great in the air.

I'll say Robinho & Messi are over-rated in the sense that they were touted as the next Pele & Marodona which is undestandable, but they are top-class and the next generation stars no doubt.
Messi, even in the defeat against Real Madrid he was still the best player on the park by a distance. Kids ridiculous talented and the hype is fully justified, his box-office.

Shocking that you leave out Fabregas.

As much as I dislike Arsenal, that boy is quality.

Sneijder and Robben might have a peek in too, just quietly.

Actually what you said was:

That's primarily why Torres' name has been bandied around but I think Rossi's a better finisher and isn't too far behind in everything else.

So in other words you're saying he's not far off one of the best strikers in the world.

If that's not blinkered then what is?
Torres isn't one of the best in the world but definitely can be there in a year or two. ATM he's just very good.

cmon Marc, they guy is pushing Shola Ameobi hard for a starting spot at Newcastle, that clearly shows near enough at Torrres' level.
I actually think it's Martins. Hasn't really looked good so far. Similar situation to Carrick. Cost a fair bit of money and has a better reputation than the other candidates and therefore gets first nod and subsequebtly gets chances to prove themselves if they don't "set it off".

Well you have next to chance of signing young Fernando, unless Fergie is prepared to pay more for Torres then what he did Rooney, Adriano is on a holiday ATM, Miroslav Klose would be a good fit but Werder would not sell, especially in January.

And Toni is 29, you make it sounds like he is 31 or 32.

If you have any better realistic options then I would like to here it.
If Fergie can get the Glazer's consent I'm sure he'll pay 30 mil for Torres. Klose and Toni are around the same age so not much difference there. Adriano seems to have personal problems. I'm guessing Huntelaar or Torres would be the best buy right now for future planning.

I'd say Rooney right now but potentially Messi to be the best out of them.

On second thought I'm thinking it's Amoebi.

If he's only "very good" then I guess we can call Rossi "mediocre" at best.

I'd say anyone was better than Rooney right now but that's due to form rather than skill/talent.

Well yeah obviously at the moment he is. Where did I say he was a world beater? Just saying he's got the potential to be very good to great.

You also said he was "not far off" Torres, which considering how good Torres is, is a huge overstatement of the ability of someone who is currently behind Shola Ameobi...

United 2 up, Arsenal 1 down... no-one likes to see that, do they?

EDIT: Hmm filter change, edited Arsenal as a result.

EDIT: Rooney!
