I'm so ****ing sick of Andy Gray. Most biased commentator I've ever come across. The whole Lehmann incident was a joke. He was trying to say the goal should stand he should still be on the field. WHICH ****ING GAME WAS HE WATCHING??? The goul SHOULD DEFINITELY have stood. But Lehmann should have been red carded for sure! You can't stick out your right hand and grab the strikers leg for ****s sake. That's surely an instant red.

Frankly the ref was appauling to both teams perhaps more so to Arsenal but the disallowed goal incident basically cleans the slate and more. That was an appauling decision. Barcelona deserved to win that match 3-1. Arsenal had probably about 3 other decent attempts on goal other than Campbell's header (which was very well worked, certainly got Barca's weakness with a perfect cross form Henry and a good header from Campbell).

I was so sick of Andy Gray by the end of the match. He was crying about the slightest thing that went on. Oleguer went in for a tackle, won the ball and he'd say, "Oh he clearly deserved the yellow there. That's a cynical tackle." Henry gets carded for the same thing and he goes psycho. Next time just axe Gray and leave Tyler by himself for christ sake.

Congrats to barca though, clearly the better team and fully deserved the win!

Small point of the laws of the game:

Advantage cannot be played when an offence that merits a straight red card occurs.

Either the referee sent him off and gave the free kick, or allowed the goal and booked Lehmann. Either way he gets a hammering from the media/public.

FWIW, I (and the rest of my housemates) were of the opinion that the ref had a pretty good game. Yes, he bought Eboué's dive and booked Henry harshly (but I misinterpreted both on first viewing as well), but he let the game flow for the most part and was reasonably consistent.
I'm a FIFA accredited referee and I would have made the wrogn decision there

Would have given the goal and the red. Admitedly, stupid law.

Unfortunately, Cloete, it's a 'one or the other' situation - it was either a goal or a sending-off, and that was open to interpretation. It was never both, by the laws of the game, as Neil explained.

Edit:

I wish I'd never posted that.

Way to look a prat, LE

Yeah just read it then. Bit of a joke really, isn't it?

The best thign to do would have been to give a yellow and a goal I suppose. But you can't blame the referee for that one, it deserved a red.

Frankly, I'm mainly angry because of Andy Gray! :@

The incident was worthy of a straight red (last man). Therefore you cannot give the goal, but you must send the 'keeper off.

Or that's what I'd have done.

if i was you i'd be grateful you didn't have to listen to pleat and his mate.

Incidentally did anyone think it was quite comical when they decided Campbell had brought etoo down not Lehmann?

disappointing to see the gunners fall short after starting well, Campbell & Cole solidity at the back is very good to news for England. Whatever Henry was arguing with Wenger about, i hope it doesn't make him leave the premiership.

Also with 2 English clubs getting to the CL Final in back 2 back years i think English football could do well in Europe in the next couple of years with the talent the likes of The Blues, Man U, The Read & the gunners have.

Small point to counter that.

Defender handles ball on line but doesn't stopping it from going in:

Goal and Yellow card.

What relevance does that have?

This isn't a defender handballing it on the line, therefore it means nothing.

It completely counters Neil's point, that you relied on.

Therefore it is relevant.

The right call last night was goal and yellow card.

Well played chaps. Fifteen minutes from immortality. Disappointing to have your keeper between twice at the near post, but I've never rated him anyway.

Hey-ho. On to the World Cup.

From the Hangover Corner, I think he has bigger things to worry about.

Looks like that was Pires' last outing for the Gooners, no wonder he looked even worse than you might expect when brought off in the Champions League Final.

I can't stand Arsenal usually, but even I thought they were hard-done on the night.
I don't see how, they weren't hard done to by the referee and a Barcelona win was a fair reflection of the game given how poor chief poseur's finishing was.

Well, it's not a red card offence then, is it?
