Good to see Arsene Wenger in the post match interview rambling on about that Eto'o's goal was off side and he can't accept the result. Also Henry admitting "I hace to learn to dive, but I am not a woman".

Sour grapes photo anyone?

Personally I feel Henry will leave, especially after the loss and Wenger continunally ignoring the need to make a few changes - ie bring on an Reyes for an ineffective Hleb and perhaps have brought on Flamini a bit earlier wheras FR made the right changes when they needed to be made. I don't know if it will be Barcelona, but perhaps Real Madrid if they make the right bid.
CDMs chief should sell chief poseur while he can still get lots of money for him, he's coming up to his 29th birthday - he'll start to lose a bit of pace shortly, once that happens he'll be a lot less effective.

So if a goal scoring opportunity was prevented, how come Giuly was able to put it into an empty net then?
That's not relevant to the goal scoring opportunity argument. Eto'o was in a one on one siituation with Lehmann and based on the positions they were in when the foul happened, Eto'o was in a goal scoring position had he not been fouled because he had rounded Lehmann and was going to have an empty net.

Wow....a Scaly post about Henry that actually makes sense and isn't just mindless Xenophobia/Prejudice....8-)

:laugh:I was thinking the same thing as I read it.

Henry's an excellent player but he relies alot on his pace. Once he loses it his overall efffectiveness will go down though. He's a great player still though and as such will still be a good striker for any top club. But someone like Shevchenko at the age of 32 will still almost be as good as he is now IMO.

Yes it is, because the offence is for preventing a goal scoring opportunity, and that is what wasn't prevented if the advantage had been (correctly) applied.

Well you can't accuss him of not being loyal at the least. Although a four year contract for a guy who is about to turn 29 isn't what I would go for IMO, perhaps 2 or 3 years at max.

The referee himself has stated that he regrets giving the red card. If that's not enough to show that it shouldn't have been given...

Nope. He regretted blowing his whistle too early. Once he had blown the whistle, there was no way out.

Fair enough - He regretted blowing his whistle early because it resulted in the red card. "The ideal thing would have been to wait a few seconds. If I'd done that, I could have given the goal and a yellow card." So the red card should have been given in the situation, but the situation should not have happened as he should have waited a few seconds first. Since the situation should not have happened, he should not have got a red card as it's a result of something that shouldn't have happened. Man, that's confusing, but I trust you can all make sense of what I'm trying to say. :p

Summed it up perfectly - it's called 'discretion'. That's what playing advantage is all about - referees are encouraged to allow the side in possession to retain their advantage as opposed to just giving free-kicks willy-nilly.

This one's saying that if he had used his discretion, he would have waited a couple of seconds to see how things developed. Obviously, a goal was the logical result, and that (plus the requisite caution) would be deemed sufficient punishment.

Probably only regrets "blowing up too early" because of the huge criticism he's got though.

Was watching a replay of the 2005-06 EPL season in review on Fox Sports (an Australian one obviously) and all three presenters did their predications for next season and some of them were (and bearing in mind they were all different):

- Liverpool challange Chelsea all the way for the title;

- Liverpool win the EPL (made by former West Ham and Blackburn player Robbie Slater);

- Man U don't make the Champions League;

- Juan Roman Riqulame goes to OT;

- RVN joins a Spanish club;

- All three promoted clubs go down straight away;

- Alan Curblishly becomes Middlesborough's new manager

A few people here would like and not like some of those predications...

I'll handle them one-by-one....

Not unless they sign a half-decent goalscorer. Owen anyone?

Nah. Chelski for the hat-trick.

They might finish a place lower if they don't sign a quality striker to replace Van Nosedive, but still a top three finish for mine.

Really, really can't see it. He's not young, lacks bottle & Fergie's probably learnt his lesson about Argentine midfielders.

Possibly, all dependent on money I suppose. PSV would be the romantic choice, but I could see him in the blue of the Siberian Petrochemical Select XI myself if they can't prise a certain Ukranian from Milan.

Possibly, especially if (boo!) Watford win the play-off. Wigan will be worse next year tho & Villa looked mediocre too so it's not a given.

Nah. El Tool with Mowbray as number 2 for mine.

I'd rather he came to Derby - and lay these silly Martin O'Neill rumours to rest.

I can't take another fortnight of wondering who our next manager is going to be - so many rumours, so many decent candidates, so many I can't take seriously.

Anyway, the idea of the afternoon at Derbyshire has gone - Mrs LE wants a new washing machine. I asked what was wrong with our existing one - the rock she'd been beating the clothes against in the stream for the last 31 years still had plenty of wear left in it. Bloody women - they want it too easy.

Now where's my automatic bottle-opening, beer-pouring machine?

Already there, Fowler.

4th at best for me unless they get a decent replacement and some central midfield...

Mind you with old man Glazer out of action, Taggart might be able to use the cheque book!

I think he'll go overseas, and Spain is likely - maybe Barcelona now they've missed out on the best option.

There's a few sides in danger following bad ends to last season actually.

So long as Warnock gets humiliated, I don't care!

Can't see Mowbray would move to be a number 2 to be honest.

Yep and also of playing for Lens in Ligue 1 - during Euro 2004 he gave us a demostration of his French by speaking a sentance or two.

Another one was that David O'Leary will be the first manager to get the sack, and I can kind of see that happening, either that he or Deadly Doug will have leave.

I will agree that Reading will have to spend some money to stay up, although I have a feeling they will go down, Sheefield United seem like the best side of the three who go up will not get relegated.

In terms of infrastructure, Leeds is the best side.

No matter what you think of Ken Bates, got to admire what he's done there as well as previously.
