brazil were obviously lucky that pele, socrates and ronaldinho developled into the players they did as well then?

ever heard of match fixing? the same regulations apply to all the last matches in the group stages of the WC.
That has nothing to do with Henry. Those three guys were playing well before they gained notoriety. Henry was far from that. Completely irrelevant statement.

So you're accusing the Tottenham staff of match fixing? I hardly think West Ham strikes fear into Martin Jol's heart.

Completely agree with that. I think Man Utd had a pretty good season. As for people thinking that nobody is up to the chase for Chelsea next season, keep in mind that Chelsea lost to Liverpool in an FA Cup semi. If they had lost to Liverpool in their league games, Liverpool would have won the league.
Firstly they lost a one off game, owing more to arrogance from the manager than anything else.

Secondly, they did beat Liverpool, so that is irrelevant, and if Liverpool had won those 2 games, can you really see them finishing the season in such a lacklustre manner?!

Those team of scouts which found a midfielder at Juventus who when put up front for Arsenal did rather well 8-)
And who insisted on signing a bloke from Milan before he'd even consider taking the job (!)

Utterly ridiculous how he seems to be the only one criticised for not making the signings.

I'm surprised he hasn't tried to give someone else the credit for the sales as well (!)

That really is harsh by the FA with regards to Tottenham's game against West Ham. Ten first team players with food poisoning and you can't postpone the game?
If they were that ill, they wouldn't have played.

There's no room to postpone the last game of the season.

Thus actually making Wenger's purchase all the better.

Just saying he can't have been impressed with his play. That makes it more a risk than anything else.

They didn't exactly look in the best shape though did they?

No, it's Rooney + 3 varying degrees of mediocrity.
What degrees are those? Solskjaer's experienced and it's not known how he'll go. Rossi's inexperienced but given enough games can become very good. Saha's probably the most mediocre out of them I'd agree though.

Time for a whinge.

What the hell is Walcott doing in the team? He's not even good enough to get a game for Arsenal, let alone England. That ranks as one of Sven's most idiotic decisions I think.

As for Spurs, I'm almost certain there's foul play here. Their most important game in 15 years, and 10 of them go down with food poisoning. A hell of a coincidence.

Take it to the appropriate thread.

They won their first trophy for 3 years (the Worthless/Careless/whatever it's now called cup) and had their best position in that time (although they never really looked like challenging for anything in the league and were woeful in Europe)

If that's a very good season then standrads have slipped to a very low level.
We also got more points than we did in several Title-winning seasons, including the Treble season.

Fact is, Chelsea havge more money to spend than anyone else, so they're always going to be favourites, and we were pretty comfortably the best of the rest.

The chef at their hotel has been arrested i believe....

The point with scouting for young players is not necessarily looking at how they're playing now, but to see if they have the talent/potential to become better.

Vieria + Henry were absolute nobodys in Italy and now they've become two of the best players to play in the Premiership.

A Man Utd example would possibly be Lee Sharp - who was bought from Torquay when he was about 16. Although he's not turned out to be as good as hoped.

You mean a whole point better than Liverpool?
Yes, I do. We were far better than Scum this season, even if the points don't reflect that (and that's partly due to us dominating teams and not finishing them off).

He was for a couple of seasons.

Perfect example is Sunderland. If those draws were wins the title would have been closer.
