You think a trophyless season is a very good season? fair enough 8-)
.

very good probably isn't the best term but even though we didn't win anything major (since we won the carling cup) this year other than the CL, i thought the standard of football Man U played in the premiership especially & to an extent FA Cup was pleasing.

You'll probably be on your own when it comes to saying Chelsea dominance as been good for the game too 8-)
.

well before it used to be pretty close between Arsenal & Man U with either winning, but now that Mouriho has stepped into to Chelsea & made them a powerhouse i think teams are lifting themselves to try to match them, so in that sense it making competitions & the standard of football in the premiership a lot better over the past 2 season that before i would say.

The opinion of the masses seems to be that Chelsea have done harm to football by making it a one horse race by being able to spend millions on new players every season.

Fact is, the only way to win the premiership is to buy it.

Agreed - Even before the Arsenal + Man Utd stronghold...Newcastle...spent loads on Barton, Shearer, Batty, Asprilla etc......Blackburn - spent loads(for the time) on getting Shearer, Flowers, Sutton etc.

yea but i dont totally agree with this. We could say after last season that was for sure, but in this season it was a bit close in the premiership & as i mentioned before i think teams like Man U, Liverpool & Arsenal mainly have what i takes to to prevent chelsea form making it 3 in a row.

Liverpool appear to lack a consistent goalscorer - although maybe that'll be Fowler next season.
Man Utd + Arsenal (and Liverpool) all have nowhere near the same amount of strength in depth that Chelsea do, and with Ballack, they'll be even more formidable.

So where Van Nistlerooy going in the summer then?!
I have heard Roma?

He has to go, transfer-list him immediatly, or if you want to get him, ban him from training until he apologises.

You make it sound as bad as Ligue 1 where Lyon have won Ligue 1 five times in a row and frankly I'm willing to wager they will win it a 6th time in a row next season.

please dont mention this its really hard to believe that Ferguson would let him levae Man U after all that he has done at the club. We should try to keep him around since having him along with Rooney, Saha & Ole can only be a positive.

Why not? It is a big issue and I feel I have as much right to talk about it as Piscine can rant about Thierry Henry.

If a player thinks he is bigger then the club and thinks it is ok to walk out on your team mates then sorry he has to leave, use the money to buy somebody better - Luca Toni perhaps or based on his extraordinary season with Heereneveen or Ajax - Klass-Jan Huntalaar. Or strengthen your midfield.

I was honestly shocked he would do such a thing - I would expect it from (for example) Christian Vieri, Antonio Cassano, Ronaldo, Raul, Nicolas Anleka, or even Adriano maybe. He never came across as an egotiscal loser...

Apparently the best bet is Fernando Torres.

Yeah Fernando Torres would be great for them.

The problem is the cost for either Torres or Toni, but RVN will command a big enough fee anyway.

They won their first trophy for 3 years (the Worthless/Careless/whatever it's now called cup) and had their best position in that time (although they never really looked like challenging for anything in the league and were woeful in Europe)

If that's a very good season then standrads have slipped to a very low level.

I'd guess you're in a big minority if that is the case.

How many players have crossed Ferguson and stayed?

One thing he has shown is that if you do that, you're gone.

Aside from that, I don't think he's anywhere near as effective as he was 2 years ago, and whatever money that can be got for him now won't be that much (certainly not enough to finance a decent replacement)

Shows how much player values has dropped - two seasons ago (or even one), Thierry Henry would have been sold for a world record transfer fee and go back two seasons RVN would have gone for around £30-35m and now RVN valuation is around the £8-10m mark and Arsenal are considering selling Henry for exactly what they paid for him. Anyway isn't Man Utd considering splashing out over £24m on Mohamadou Diarra (Lyon?), so there must be some money there despite the huge debts and apparently Esteban Cambiasso has been linked with them.

Anyway if Arsenal beat Barcelona then Henry will re-sign, if they lose then good-bye. It's a bit like Steven Gerrard last season when Liverpool won it - first he said he would sign the new and improved contract, then later on in the piece admits he wants to leave, then wakes up to himself and signs the new contract.

Mind you Gerrard's contract had a few more years to run.
