Still 'nowhere near top drawer' (or words to that effect) as you yourself admitted - you don't seem to grasp the concept that it doesn't matter how much he fills his boots against crap sides it doesn't remotely disprove what I've said about him. He's the football equivalent of a Hick or Ramprakash - are you going to start banging on about their FC records?marc71178 said:30 starts, 2 substitute appearances - 27 goals and 11 or 12 assists...
It's on a par with Henke Larsson. (One goal every 2.5 games).sledger said:in fairness ramps probably could have done a lot better at international level given a longer run, imo anyway, but thats not really relevant.
Correct me if im mistaken, but Henry's record for france is hardly poor is it?
Shearer managed to score about the same every season in his pomp and his international record was 63/30 - Henry's record is - 76/31 - Not much difference between Henry and the best Premiership forward.Scaly piscine said:Still 'nowhere near top drawer' (or words to that effect) as you yourself admitted - you don't seem to grasp the concept that it doesn't matter how much he fills his boots against crap sides it doesn't remotely disprove what I've said about him. The difference would be 5 goals if Shearer had played the same number (also Shearer was a bit of late bloomer as far as internationals went). Imagine that adding 5 runs onto a somebody's batting average in Test cricket... bit of a difference then isn't it?Matteh said:Shearer managed to score about the same every season in his pomp and his international record was 63/30 - Henry's record is - 76/31 - Not much difference between Henry and the best Premiership forward.
(For the record Henry's European games record is 88/48 a goal every 1.83 games - Scaly...you're just wrong)
He's five goals short of Shearer who is the best England forward (with a finished career) since Lineker. If you found out how many assists Henry has made i bet it's far higher than Shearer too. And as the more games are player you're more likely to have a worse record as every game you don't score in does more harm to your overall average.Scaly piscine said:The difference would be 5 goals if Shearer had played the same number (also Shearer was a bit of late bloomer as far as internationals went). International games have the occasional low quality teams, European games have a lot more low quality teams, so again an indiscriminate statistic which has lots of easy games thrown in doesn't disprove anything as I've said before - the same would go with internationals except his record is already relatively poor given the circumstances and so I don't really need to bother sifting out the 5th/6th pot type sides (the teams that are in the 5th or 6th pot based on rankings etc. when the draw is done - the really rubbish teams) which would probably only make up around a dozen games anyway.
And of course Henry hasn't got that either has he?Scaly piscine said:The difference would be 5 goals if Shearer had played the same number (also Shearer was a bit of late bloomer as far as internationals went).
You think a trophyless season is a very good season? fair enoughaussie said:very good season for Man U and overall (except the Champions league disappointment) one-of the better years of the premiership i've seen in my 6 years following football i guess. Chelsea dominance has been good for the game & the rise of Tottenham & Blackburn has good for English football.
