But a final hurrah from Shearer by playing a World Cup! Sounds a bit too Roy of the Rovers tbh.Craig said:And retired.
With Rooney injured though - he'd surely be the best replacement even though he's 36.

As in his whole career to date and not counting this season's goal scoring form or do you consider him bit of a one season wonder to date? 28 goals is a brilliant effort - another player supposed to be going to Inter.sledger said:Toni and Inzaghi are hardly world class.
Indeed, he was at least fourth choice after Hiddink, O'Neill and Scolari IMO. O'Neill was never going to get it after honestly answering the Beckham question, namely will you keep Becks as captain as he earns the FA millions, O'Neill said no I'll choose the team and skipper on merit, the FA didn't like it. To be fair the press seemed to bugger it up with Scolari although I'm sure eventually he'd have said no the the golden balls question himself.sledger said:interesting to see the FA come out and say he was the man they wanted for the job all along, what a load of crap.
His one big failing has been wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.Pothas said:Mclaren isnt really an inspirational choice but i think he will do a solid job.
I'm sure you'd find a post somewhere in which I suggest that exact thing if you trawled back through this thread. I really can't see there being anyone better for the motivational side of things than Psycho. He'd just scare the crap out of them so they played well.luckyeddie said:His one big failing has been wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.
Luckily, that is not required.
He is a quite unbelievably good coach though - witness DCFC's rise to mid-table in the premiership in the 1990's, and the amazing run that Man Utd had when he was there.
And then there's what he has achieved at Boro - more than anyone in their history. Tactically brilliant, all England will want now is a top No 2 for the motivation side - and there my choice would be....
Stuart Pearce*.
A match made in heaven (aka the East Midlands)
*Stuart Pearce is a Ram, is a Ram, is a Ram,
Stuart Pearce is a Ram, he hates F*rest.
I have a new desktop background on my office PC - naturally, it's Pearce in the Rams shirt.Pedro Delgado said:That was hilarious, the Forest boys scoring for us. Took the goals well didn't they.
there is a pretty good chance he will be out that job by christmas.GeraintIsMyHero said:Pearce has said he doesn't want to be involved at this stage, because the City job takes up enough of his time as it is.

Gah. For a moment there I thought only three teams went down from Division 2. In which case Hartlepool's draw would have been crucial in sending Franchise FC down.Neil Pickup said:
