Absolutely delighted that Steve McClaren has got the England job.
Great coach, not remotely convinced by him as a manager yet. I'd be very happy to be proved wrong tho.

I have a suspicion he's a natural no.2.

arsenal beat man city 2-1, two nice goals from reyes but some dodgy moments at the back, sets up the last day of the season interestingly.

oh yeah sorry my mistake, was thinking 2 goals for reyes when i typed that, nice to see him contributing something useful in the premiership for once.

Right time as well, talk is he might not start for Spain or even go to the World Cup because Luis Aragonés is concerned of his lack of goals.

seeing as hes primarily a winger i dont see why that should be a huge concern, his performance tonight showed that he can score goals when needed, i fully expect him to go, be surprised if hes left out, despite the fact that his form this season has been well below par.

Im not convinced by Reyes he doesnt seem to have much determination and he doesnt score enough goals even for a winger, Pires has scored an awful lot more from midfeald for Arsenal in the past. He can run with ball ok but never seems to do anything constructive with it althogh he is capable of the odd good pass.

jury is out on him really, next season will be make or break, if he can get back to the form he showed at the beginning of last season and hold it down then he can be a very good player, he seems to be a lot more effective playing up front, also scores quite regularly when playing in that position as well, mind you francis jeffers scored very regularly when he started for arsenal, and he was awful.

The talk has stemmed primarily from the performances of Jamie Gavilan of Getafe and if Vincente is fitting fit, then Reyes would struggle to start in Germany.

i dont doubt that, vicente is a much better player than reyes, but reyes will make the squad, he is a handy player to have in reserve or as a sub, he will travel to germany, but a starting place in the side looks doubtful for him.

Anyone who would hesitate not to put Henry in a World Eleven let alone the England team is a grade A loon. Also what’s your criteria of a good European side, obliviously it’s not Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, AS Roma…
There's Rooney and Eto'o too. Also, Toni, Inzaghi and Adriano.

I was being frivolous in regard to the World Eleven but Henry would start in front of Luci Toni and Adriano. Adriano's season has been pretty much a non start since New Year and Toni’s career up into this season was not overly impressive and pretty much mediocre. Whilst Superpippo has been injured for most of it and even in pomp you could never argue that the guy was world class, good goal scorer but nothing overly extraordinary.

I agree. Looks like a shifty bugger, too...

I just don't think Crouch is good enough to be an international footballer.....Sheringham's had an alright season but if Sven picked a 40 year old he'd get slated. Or someone could convince Shearer somehow...except he's injured 8-)
And retired.

Kind of off topic but didn't Vincente have a bust up with Carles Puyol last year?
