I think Ledley King has played well for England in the DM role...and i think it'd be close between him and carrick...

i seem to be in the minority in that i've not liked Beckham ever since WC98...whilst everyone seems to have loved him in the meantime....it depends how attacking England want to be if they include SWP...as he's more likely to run at people than Beckham is

I think the England first team is probably already decided barring injury, though i'd like Wright phillips to gte a lot of game time.

Irrelevant, although they did have more money in the Championship.

The fact remains that if they hadn't had the money they wouldn't be where they are now.
How is it irrelevant?

Because it doesn't suit you?

The facts show that they didn't spend much money in the Championship, whether they did in League 1 or not.

Rio is slacking at the moment. Very lucky not to put England in real trouble last night with his attempts at dribbling.

SWP for me is better than Beckham, and I fully expect that after the WC he may start for England.

I like the idea of J Cole, Carrick, Lampard, Gerrard from left to right. That way we have a our three best midfielders on the field and a decent, young DM to feed them.

personally i think that after beckham goes gerrard will take up that position on the right with carrck coming in the centre, that would certainly be the best option as far as i can see, as SWP has done nowt to suggest he can really cut it at the very top level, not to mention the fact that he cant cross, pass, shoot or even tackle and defend as well as beckham or gerrard.

He puts in little passes to the more attacking minded players.

Just like Makalele.

I think he is well suited to the role. Perhaps more so than Carrick.

So £2.4m on 2 strikers isn't much then?

And 4 half million plus players in League 1 is irrelevant (after spending over £2m the year before and £1.5m the season before that)

Are you trying to say they'd be where they are now without spending that money then?

Yeah, he was alright - but that's all he's been for the last five years, really.
lol thats true but he won't be dropped anyway & if our next coach develops any kind of good relationship with him, Beckham may be playing internatioanlly for a good while yet, mind you if he becomes total crap with age he will have to go & the mid-field quartet of:

Gerrard-Carrick-Lampard-Cole...

i see on Skynews that Chelsea are the leading contenders for Ballack according to his agent, that would give Chelsea even more depth:@ , but really i cant see him starting though.

I don't see why Ballack would go to Chelsea. He'd be likely to go to Italy or Spain or stay at Bayern IMO.

Rio Ferdinand's been inconsistent IMO. He'll have a good few games then completely disappear for too long.

Chelsea won't get Ballack, 'cause they don't need him. Mourinho's not the type to buy a player for the sake of it.
