Winners (or who I guess will be) in bold.

Bayern - Milan
Benfica - Scum
Real Madrid - Arsenal
PSV - Lyon

Everton fan? Anyway, pretty much spot on.

There are 3 players with more goals at least, and that's only since 1988, not sure about in history, but I presume players like Di Stefano will have more.

So, by your logic, Ruud is a better striker than Henry? I never thought I'd hear that.
Of course. Henry's a better forward though.

He would be if he didn't go missing in big games or against big teams.

Ooh, speaking of which nice back pass there.

And for the sake of balance so does marc doesn't cry racist - Beckham has been a headless, one footed inept chicken so far.

Well 0-0 in the Real/my boys game @ HT. I don't wanna tempt fate too much, but I'd say we've been good value for it. So far....

&, is it me, or do the Brazilians (Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos & Robinho) all look to be a bit, well, portly?

One wouldn't think of Brazilians being portly with thier culture but I guess Spanish life has spoilt them.

Well I did say:

I think Real is one of the few European teams left in the Champions League that CDMs' chief poseur could do well against - especially when Real are at home and leave plenty of space at the back

Real's defense is MIA.

Could the guy do anything right in your eyes? If he saved a lass from drowning, would it be the sea's fault for not swallowing her quick enough?

Given that he'd fluffed a few chances to directly or indirectly get the opening goal, I don't think his deed need equating to saving someones life just yet.

but honestly could ITV have come up with a worse commentary team than the one they have. The main commentator, who's name escapes me, starts of with some preprepared poem about the occasion which he continues with despite the match starting, then throughout the match tries to introduce more flowery language than Mark Nicholas. On top of that you have David Pleat...someone tell him how to pronounce Henry

Pleat "Reyes certainly looks a better prospect than Ramos" FCOL Pleat despite the fact that you've probably never seen Ramos play before, you've decided you can directly compare a centre back with Reyes, who's playing about his first decent game in yonks.

My top five defenders of all time:

1. Beckenbauer
2. Mandini
3. Baresi
4. Santos (Djalma)
5. Moore
Very, very good list - and I'd probably even put Paolo Maldini top in his heyday.

For about 2 seasons, I reckon the Roy MacFarland - Colin Todd centre back partnership was the best I'd ever seen at club level.

no i don't think it is, could be peter drury
Yeah, think you're right. I don't rate him either. Like you said, should concentrate on calling what he sees rather than concocting the perfect bon mot.
