What ever happened to Schofield? Is he still a leggie? Still playing?

I remember watching the Lankys v Kent game from Blackpool (see DD's Diary passim) which did more than anything to thrust the eloquent Ed Smith into the limelight for his fifteen minutes of cricketing fame - and distinctly remember the phrase "What's the wicket playing like?" being directed to Schofield as he bowled a succession of waist-high full-tosses.

The fact that it was directed in his direction by me is neither here nor there.

I say. Not likely to be getting a Test recall any time soon then.

Ta Swervy.
Only chance he's gonna have of been in the same room as the test team is if they order pizza one night :)

Nice one Somerset, further reassuring my point that, Smith aside, Twenty20 is just an arena for mediocre semi-talented journeymen to try and convince people they can swipe a ball and hit it..

Uh, congratulations, nice one...

On an unrelated subject, check this out - I was looking through some of the 2nd XI Championship games this season, and look who replaced Jim Troughton in Warwickshire's 2nds when he was called up to play for the 1sts midway through a game.......imagine if you were playing for the opposition and you suddenly find yourself facing this guy having not thought he was playing!

LOL - good old AAD!

I thought there was a cricinfo joke there with the DNB in the 1st innings, RJ Slowey.

It's back to normality for Somerset at Hove - they're being belted around at 7 an over by Montgomerie and Prior. Chris Adams not playing, so Jimmy Kirtley captains Sussex - interesting move, two novice captains with Blackwell taking over from Smith. Suppiah replacing Smith in the team - not exactly like-for-like.

I didn't actually.. Heard from parents who were watching it downstairs, I watched about 3 balls while I was waiting to go to work...

Thats ace! If anyone knows if AAD is playing prior to it actually happening, can they get in touch? Should be passing my test soon, and will drive frigging miles to see him bowl again. (obviously)

Not sure how likely that is. He does some coaching at Warks these days, doesn't he? I would imagine the reason he turned up in that game was because he was hanging around and they were short of players - I can't see him being a regular fixture in any more county 2nd XI games, but you might get to see him in a PCA Masters game, or possibly some club games. Will let you know if I find anything out, not that I'm likely to.

And in other news, Lancashire are absolutely slaughtered by Bangladesh 'A'!
That's a Lancashire 'A' side too, though...I can recognise Ian Sutcliffe, Kyle Hogg, Sajid Mahmood, Oliver Newby, and the two Crooks, but in all honesty, hardly an achievement... :p

yeah none of the X1 would be in our first choice OD XI but its a very poor performance none the less. If they'd brought Marshall and Thompson(Leg spinner from Lisburn) on earlier it might have been closer but Hogg bowled horribly. The batting was clearly abysmal

Somerset did well to restrict Sussex to just under a run a ball in the end - now the real KP (Keith Parsons :D ) and Blackwell are going alright, needing 6.5 an over for the last 15. Should be close.

Blackwell gone now, 83 needed off 11 - they're good at slogging as they proved at the weekend, hopefully Parsons, Hildreth, John Francis and Durston are good enough to win this for them.

Great bowling change by Kirtley incidentally, he brings on Michael Yardy's part-time spin and gets the key man in his first over.

EDIT: Yardy grabs another in his third over, that of Parsons for 40. Hildreth and J Francis need to finish this off for the Sabres.

EDIT 2: And another! John Francis goes, Durston in.

EDIT 3: And another, Hildreth........Johnson in and he's 5* off 2 balls so far.
