yes but if he keeps a young player out of the side, which in this case he probably will ( a young player who's start to his career has been promising), its a shame.
On the other hand he could play a role and help develop the young Yorkie talent.

Hopefully Hoggard won't play any ODIs this summer and so hopefully we'll have Silverwood-Hoggard-Kruis bowling in tandem quite a bit.
Hoggard will still have a central contract, so won't play that much.

If Kruis takes 'Geoff' Bresnan's place then its a shame IMO
Not that I'm sure he will but I won't be complaining if he does!
Bresnan has to be the most overrated player at this club since Steve Kirby.

If Duncan has any sense he'll let Hoggard play every game he's available for until late July - it's not like Bangladesh Tests are going to over-tax him nor is he going to start the season tired.

Pah, Kruis's departure smacks of "I'm not going to play for SA, lets earn some Sterling"

Alles van die best, Englands kolpak system will reap what it sows..

What if he gets injured for his county......we want Trescothick all the time at somerset but admit that hes England first then somerset......lets protect our best players by not over playing them...lest have a 110% for the Australian tests.

Langveldt is Spot on.... it wrong for an average South African/Aussie/NZ to go to england and earn 4 times as much as they do over there

it wrong

5 years time we will have only 20 english cricketers... and kids not wanting to play the game and i bet "Armchair" fans would be delighted

it is really sad at least with Football Premiership teams are investing in Acadamies English Counties are not investing in Youth

It's intriguing how you're such a big fan of free market economies everywhere else except here.

And ignore the vastly higher average wage and cost of living...

So you think that in 5 years time the 18 counties will have just 1 Englishman each?

I know 5 years is a fair while, but I think I can sfely dispute that.

Trescothick's different - he plays Tests and ODIs.
People are every bit as likely to get injured playing a gentle game of footy in the back-garden as playing cricket.
Freak injuries happen - it's not possible to avoid them unless you do everythig with total, deliberate care.
And by not playing you're damaging your chances almost as much as by getting injured - because you're risking losing rhythm.
