Marc's team might in with a shout of D1 if Ian Bell continues to have the season he had last year.
Yes, it now looks like he's unlikely to be away with England much, so we may get one more season from him.

I bet Anthony McGrath or Paul Collingwood might be a bit excited by the news that Flintoff is unlikely to play against Bangladesh.

Collingwood might get in at 6, it all depends on Pietersen to be honest.

Of course they might still spring a shock by picking Bell.

If they pick someone other than Pietersen at six they've gone insane.
It seems pretty straightforward to me...
Trescothick
Strauss
Butcher (if fit) \ Key
Vaughan
Thorpe
Pietersen
Jones
Giles
Hoggard
Jones
Harmison
Barring injury, o'course...

why not Bell and KP??..get Vaughan in at 3..for me Butcher has had his day..and I think bell is a better player allround than Key

Butcher has had his day, yeah, right! He's 32, FFS - how the hell has he had his day?

ok ..maybe I was a tad harsh on Butch but I think it would be a good move for England to put Bell in there, I rate him more than Butcher as a batsman.

Selecting Butcher isnt exactly looking to the future is it..and we are only talking about playing B'desh here

Would have to disagree there.

As far as I am concerned, no Test caps should be given out in sake of charity against a weaker opposition. It's disrespectful to the England Cap.

The shape of the side requires some bowling ability at 6.
Not necessarily, and not against Bang, anyway. If they needed to give the four fulltimers a break, there' s no reason why Vaughan & Tresco shouldn't turn their arms. Aus seem to cope well enough with only 4.
