Chapple was once in the running for an England team spot, after which I have been reading about his performances. Initially a few thought his selection was a joke, but he's done rather well with ball and bat (especially in 20-20) for Lancs. Karthik seems more at home playing for Lancs than for India- maybe they can give him a full-time contract next season.
Karthik has been playing in the Lancashire League for the team Mike Watkinson used to play for - i'd say he'll probably go back there next year. Lancs already have Brad Hodge asone of the overseas players for next season and Watkinson was saying that Murali wanted to play at least some part of the season next year and that Symonds wanted to come back but not for a full year. With SL touring at the start of the year, having Symonds for the first half and Murali for the second seems like the obvious solution. Watkinson did all but confirm this was what would happen

I think superkingdave will have something to say about that...
i'd say he's very unfortunate not to have played at least a few ODI's considering who has over the years. He's never really had enough pace to be successful in test cricket, and its a shame he's only really improved his batting in the last couple of years - if he'd been able to bat like he can now a few years ago he'd have been a pretty decent no8 in ODI

Yea, he's just a decent county plodder really but was as good as some of the other plodders who've had a few games. Anyway you were supposed to comment on "but he's done rather well with ball and bat (especially in 20-20)" but I'll let these figures tell the story...

This year:

Batting: 6 innings, 48 runs @ 9.60 SR: 92.30
Bowling: 22 overs, 7 wickets @ 32.71, ER: 10.40(!)

yes he was awful in the twenty20 this year, and yet even when they didn't need to bowl or even play him (like when Flintoff was playing) they still brought him on and he was abysmal.

Crawley gets his triple century. Notts getting smashed at the moment at 4.89 rpo, score 699/5

No doubt a bit of needle in that one after Warne's comments on the declaration that meant Notts ended up winning the championship a game early, I think he's probably right as well.

whats the Hants record individual score?
316...and the muppet declares on 311*. No one has a record book handy, apparently.

Crawley now has three of the highest six scores for Hampshire - 301* against Notts at Trent Bridge last year (he likes Notts) and 272 against Kent at St Lawrence Ground 2002.

It's the highest score at The Rose Bowl by a fair stretch, though - Shane Watson held that record briefly with 203* against Warwickshire this summer.

Edit: Footitt 17-0-153-1 - and this guy is going to the Academy? He needs it, that's definitely for certain...

Somerset are getting absolutely thumped by Derbyshire... It was looking ominous yesterday, Stubbo has 147*, Hasan Hundred has 135*. I wonder what Rich is going to make of it?

Crawley 311*- I wonder what's going to happen when he realises?

Another 5 for Mascarenhas. Averaging 49 with the bat and 23 with the ball... decent season that!

Anyone know why Warne has only bowled 8 balls from 50 odd overs?

He might be injured considering he and Ervine shared an over, but then again Ervine might be injured. Other than that I guess he might just not be bothered.

But to be fair to Fulton, he had to try and take whatever chance he could get of going for the win.

Entirely predictable! Give me a bowl! Somerset's attack looks about as strong as Millfield school's..

I think he might be injured myself. If Ervine was, why would Warne take over from him and only bowl one extra over?

Hopefully it's nothing serious!
