Im going to Lords tomorow hoping too see a hampshire victory that would be the start of what could be the greatest week and a bit of cricket ever!!! I am not totaly confident of victory but the top 5 is pretty strong and the tail always chips in. Udal is on brilliant form aswell so i would be faitly confident

Come on the shire!! Should be a good game, but warwickshire have the secret weapon, Penney at backward point!

I'm flicking between the NRL & the C&G final. Lord's pitch looks absolute belter. Hants could push 300 from here. Ervine & Pothas looking in good nick too. Think with their bowling attack (or lack thereof) Warwicks are behind the eight-ball.

Is Pothas a chance for England? May be slightly too old now, but looks in good nick with the bat & playing Gilo v well. Maybe a dark horse for Pakistan & India as no. 2 keeper?

Would be funny if England picked a third South African, but if he's eligable he wouldn't be a bad bet. Certainly in good form with a few centuries this year (three I think?), and he can't be any worse with the gloves than Jones.

So Loudon does have a Doosra. he bowls it with the middle finger a la Jack Iverson and John Gleeson.

IIRC he finishes his qualification period after this summer, so he would be eligible for the tours.

& bit harsh calling Strauss a Saffie! He's been here since he was 7 or so! :p

Simon Hughes has just pointed out Loudon is bowling (or has at least tried to) a Doosra. I think Harbhajan singled him out as a promising English spinner. His career figures a bit ropey tho.

Think I'd stick to Panesar or Jason Brown for the time being. At least they know how to exploit a turning pitch.

I think Simon Hughes was exaggerating a little calling it a doosra - a doosra is one that spins like a leg-break, whereas Loudon's doosra is pretty much a glorified arm ball that will only go away from the right-hander if it hits the seam. Could be pretty effective if he gets it perfected, though.

An almighty collapse from Hants there, 290 all out. A good total but 50 short of what it could have been.

CT Tremlett run out (Brown/Frost) 7(2). :D

6, then run out going for the second?

A N Cook to open the batting for England before the decade is out?
Without a shadow of a doubt. Cook, Shafayat and Hildreth are the future of England's batting lineup, with Billy Godleman to come in the generation after that.

Yep. Except it was actually wide, 6, run out, but the wide didn't count in the batting records as a ball, which I never knew was the case (noballs do count). The 6 was absolutely monstrous, too.

On another note, Michael Slater invented two new commentary phrases today - when Ashley Giles mowed one over extra cover for four, Slats said "Well, he's absolutely moosed that one, right over the covers for a one bounce four". Then when Makhaya Ntini came out to bat with 26 needed off 7 balls, Slats' interpretation of things was "Well, he's going to have to hit a couple of sixiemasters if they're going to win this one".

Moosed???? SIXIEMASTERS?????

It's probably because they're wides because they're to wide to play, and thus to wide to be hittable, and it's not a wide if it's hit.
