Quite a long shot source really, a guy that plays for my brothers club is his agent (why he has an agent I don't know) it's just cause this guy is Amir Khan's agent and Mahmood is Kahn's cousin.

I like Crook, but I don't really think he's good enough to play for a team such as Lancs. His brother his far better.

lol at the sky commentators salivating over Louden's doosra
It's not even a proper doosra though - it doesn't go the other way, and he bowls it differently to how Saqlain intended it to be bowled when he invented it.

Quite an entertaining finish there at Taunton.
Very much so - I was there. A fantastic hundred from Jonathan Trott, a sparkling early fifty from Matt Wood (including one straight drive that could have been played by Tendulkar himself) and a thrilling run-chase by Somerset which was perfectly executed. J Francis and Durston needed 78 off the last 10 with 4 wickets left, and they got it down to 14 off the last two, before Durston smashed a six and two fours to enable 16 in all to be taken off Neil Carter's penultimate over, and Durston to finish off the game unbeaten on 58 off only 35 balls.

Not quite sure where to post this, but here seems as apt as anywhere.

Just read this on the BBC site from some nipper:

Started back at school today and for the first time ever kids were playing cricket on the field not football. It made me feel so proud. I love england!!

Makes me feel proud too. Hopefully it's not like the rugby where everyone was a fan for two weeks, maybe more schools will start playing the noble game again. Not that simple of course they need funding et al, but hey.

I'm impressed. BTW I gather you were at the Oval on Sunday as well. Were you sat with the punters? If so, where?
Lol no I wasn't at the Oval.. I don't have the time for cricket at the moment..

If you have sky, look out for me this winter when SA play the Kiwis!

He then proceeded to wind up his window and take the recently acquired Vauxhall Nova for a few doughnuts on the playing field..

I have a feeling it will purely because of television coverage, though with big names like Freddy etc there is a chance the appeal may stay. Can't imagine many people apart from ardent fans checking out the pakistan tour and keeping it up come winter time. I hope i'm wrong however.

Gloucestershire bowled out twice in a day by Notts, that doesn't happen too often.
Kadeer Ali making over half of Gloucester's score in the first dig. Career average now up to the dizzy heights of 20.07!

Yes. I can only assume you have full-size posters of him adorning your dormitory rooms. Comparing him to Tendulkar, indeed...

I'm not sure it's entirely rational to be honest, but he's never struck me as one who's going to make it (maybe a slightly better version of Kadeer Ali) - and as old Barney's now picked me up on it, I've got two choices: a) back down or b) keep the stand.

That and he plays for Exmouth (boo)

I have an irrational hatred of Matt Hayden, and everyone hates Exmouth. But I hate Bradninch more.

It's perfectly rational to hate Hayden :D

We have a decent record against Bradninch, but we don't ever seem to beat Exmouth. The hatred may decrease should we ever beat them at something.

I compared one shot to Tendulkar. If you'd seen it, you'd agree - it was that good! He had a bit of luck - James Anyon did drop a sitter off him - but he played some fantastic shots.

It's not like he's my favourite player or anything - it's just that he seems not to get many props on here (or anywhere else for that matter), considering he averages 58.87 in FC cricket this year, and although his List A average this year is only 30.92, he has a century and two fifties in his last five innings.

It also just happens that whenever I go to watch Somerset, he seems to get runs - perhaps I should stop going, then we'll see how good he really is. :D

Either way, I'll shut up about him!

I thought it was carter who dropped him early on?

anyway they were going on on sky that he averages twice as much at home as he does away

It may have been Carter, I was miles away so I couldn't quite tell.

Wood's average is probably inflated a little by him playing at Taunton, that's true - but fluid strokeplay is fluid strokeplay wherever it's played. He's not likely to play for England any time soon - he's just quite a good player who doesn't get recognition.
