If Clough didnt hit the ball over the boundary, his head wouldve been taken off and that wouldve rolled to the boundary....

Jesus, Billy the umpire had a shocker, Samit Patel was laying into them in the post match interview, could end up getting fined.

But in the end, Runners up is way more than anyone expected for Notts, Its a good thing to go away and build upon and may just be a kick up the **** for our F.C season. Weve entertained with a fantastic finale, if we had an umpire with eyes, who knows what couldve happened. It was a fantastic days cricket, Just about everything happened in our semi final, and before i use every cliche in the book, It was cricket that won today, not Leicester,,,,

Cricinfo is giving the umpires as 'unknown.' Anyone would think it was some 'A' team match in the middle of nowhere.

For the first half of the game they only had 9 men listed in Leicestershire's team as well...

I mean one of the unnamed only came out to bat as well and it's not like they've got the names on their shirts is it...

Thought Broads bowling (epsecially in his 4th over) was fantastic. You'd never see Plunkett or Mahmood bowling so maturely, yet he's younger than both!

I found the umpires name, and its not Billy.... It was actually Peter Hartley... A name im not forgetting for a while

It's the same Peter Hartley who played for Hampshire, Warwickshire and Yorkshire. As a Warwickshire fan, it's a name I won't be forgetting soon!

Charles Shreck coming to the fore yet again, what a gun

Anyway, another season of chavball comes to an end, have managed to avoid every ball of Twenty20 cricket despite my best mates going to Somerset matches and the final.. When I asked them who the greatest batsman ever to have lived was, the general consensus was Freddie Flintoff..

ive been to one 20/20 this year, and I only saw older people, young guys mad about cricket, and mid-age men that came to watch the game after work with a few beers...not that much chavs around....

Yeah, its a bit unfair. For instance, I hate Chavs, but love 20/20. ...No im not in denial
maybe its just at Somerset then, tbh I've been alarmed at the rise of football fans watching test cricket, perhaps Twenty20 is succesful at bringing people to the longer form of the game?..

Cam White's gone home & Blackie's not fit yet so Caddick's captaining against Glamorgan tomorrow  I thought Matt Wood was Vice?? And Robin Lett gets a debut....should be interesting....

What it does it gets a lot of kids and teenagers (Not really chavs), who arent all that sure about cricket, into the game, I can tell you that much, but as for them being interested in test or first class cricket as a direct result, I wouldnt know. Sometimes, all it takes is one great performance by a player (You know the thing with me and steve harmison) and that can decide it.

Ignore Langeveldt. You've as much chance of getting a good word about Twenty20 from him as Dean Jones has of getting an invite to peacekeep in South Lebanon.

Never has a truer word been spoken, Neil.

Anyway, not a great day for Somerset against Glamorgan. Down points: they only just made it into the 200s & have lost 8 wickets. The few plus points being: they actually made over 200 runs, Robin Lett scored 50 on debut & Hildy seems to, finally, be dragging himself out of his bad run of form (I know 41 isn't wonderful but it's far better than averaging around 10, as he's been doing for a long while until now).

Rain is forecast for most of the remaining 3 days....oh joy

Travis Birt looks a real class act; I've just seen him bash 80-odd at better than a run a ball vs Gloucs in the Pro40. He lifted Ian Fisher back over his head for one of the most mouthwatering, cleanest struck sixes I've ever seen. Shame no-one else can bat for Derbyshire.

The scores in the Pro40 are fairly high - teams are routinely scoring 6.5, 7 an over. I think it just shows the pointlessness of the middle overs of some one-day games - they merely cause teams to bat more defensively early on and in the middle, in order to be able to attack with wickets in hand at the end. Now sides are attacking throughout the innings - I think I prefer this format to 50 overs now, after being a sceptic to begin with. Definitley better than 45. However I still can't understand why it is 40 when all other nations are playing 50.

Lancashire are looking at Murali Kartik again.

He's by no means a poor player, but with Keedy and Marshall fighting for places he is likely to be too much of a quick fix and counterproductive. I would prefer to see another batsman roped in.
thats true another bat would make more sense.

Also good to see Tremlett in the wickets, more of that for the remainder of the season will do his chances of an ashes call up good.
