not really a loophole, the whole purpose of the development squad is to designate the players that can be rested on the orders of the England managment.
Since every other team could've made simialr arrangements I'd say it is a loophole - unless they're selecting him merely as cover, in which case Lancashire lose far more in the long run.

Every other team meaning Middlesex, who are the only team who had a player in the same situation.

If you want to close this 'loophole' of yours, you'd have to centrally contract every single english qualified county player. That or restrict Duncan to picking players named in the development squad.

Or alternatively automatically add any call ups to that squad for the duration of their stay in the side - simple but effective.

They're having a brilliant spell at the moment - delighted for Corky.

(mutter mutter razzum frazzum .......)

 Had the displeasure of meeting 'Corky' once, talk about a grade A....

and that's exactly what happens now yet you think it's a loophole. The start of Chapple's England duty was the meeting at 8.00pm on Sunday.

Jaques continues his superb form, he said early in the year that he hopes the Australian selectors dont consider him mainly as an opener, i hope they don't because with the form he is in with he could be very useful even in the middle order.

Dissapointing to let them get 173 having had them 92-7 but I guess i'll take that. Need a decent batting performance now.

Good to see Cork stepping up to the plate as only senior paceman.

At one Lancashire game my mates stole my trainer and got him to sign it. Proudest moment of my life...

Had a great effect on the team, before his arrival they were a shower of ****. His innings at the Oval, was the best I have seen in some time, awesome.

So it is a loophole.

What happens if it rains on the Sunday and the game carries on till say 7.30.

Chapple has 3 overs left to bowl, what happens then?

The sensible thing is that he immediately joins that list of players until such times as he's not selected (ie after the ODI series)

Kemp gone mental,

comes in at 101-5 with Kent only 53 ahead and smashes a hundred off something like 56 balls
It's only Durham though.

They're making a habit of choking it seems :)
