Some counties are ridiculously over-staffed, it is a perfectly valid point.
30 players is ridiculous. How much money is wasted. Why not just have 13 or 14 pros and some back-up players on match-by-match contracts?
It's been discussed time and again, there are too many players by far on the circuit, and far, far too much money being shelled-out that would be better spent on other things. And it causes this "closed-shop" approach to county cricket that plenty see as a problem. Never tried to get into top-level cricket myself so I'm not brilliantly placed to comment.
