Chris, you're beginning to sound like a broken record.

So what if they have that many players - at the end of the day, it's their money.
Yes, and they'd benefit the English game as a whole far more if they spent it in other ways. And ATEOTD that's their responsibility - however much they win, it won't keep them in business if England's performances mean ECB can't keep-up their funding.

Warwickshire are heavy in debt. they lost around 1/2 Million last year and this included takingingfrom the International Matches.

Warwick seems to give 2 years retaininge contacts to about 6 players and the rest have good 3 year deals

The retainers earn around 8,000 a year and there are round 5 on the staff.... Warwick where going for a Clear out in the Winter by getting rid of young players like (Warren, Clifford, Spiers, Jones) thus claring some money and easing the debt but there players wanted to stay on?

Warwick are a big County who can afford at least 24 pros but are they really needed and do Retainers have to earn that much money just to play Second Xi games

Hang on, one minute you say they're in debt and need to get rid of players, then you say they can afford a big squad?

We all appreciate you don't like Warwickshire, but give it a rest!

they in Debt becasue of giving more money to the Younger players then they should.

what I MEANT to say is that like they can carry 28 players but around 10-12 should be on less money that way they will save cash? other big Counties dont have 28 pros

I dont dislike Warwick at all?

Bad News for Scotland, as Rahul Dravid sadly declines the invitation to play for them in the 2004 season.

Dravid says he needs a break, I agree with him.

Bad for Scotland though and bad for English fans of Cricket who would've seen a brilliant player at his best.

But I feel Dravid needs a break and with so much cricket around the corner, including the Goodwill Series against Pakistan and Australia in Holland and the ICC Champions Trophy, I can't really blame him.

Yep Players seem to play a lot on International cricket nowadays

A debt like that doesn't come solely from paying 8 or 9 kids a few thousand pounds

Of course not, and Rik and I agree 100% on every subject.

Pleasing then that he cashed-in when he had the chance. He batted brilliantly last season.
And I fully understand his desire for a break.

Investment in grass-roots. Clearing of debt. Scouting. Ground and training facility improvements.
Rather than wasting it on 10 or 15 rubbish players who are never going to come close to county standard.

Good stuff from Rahul actually...

His innings at Taunton in the NUL was insane, I will remember that for a long time...

Refresh my memory mate,

how was it insane?

Well it was really hot, and I remember him just singlehandedly smashing the somerset attack with incredible elegance... He converted many good balls into fours and nearly enabled the scots to set a total too high for Somerset...

Interesting to see that Northamptonshire have abandoned their legal action to register Phil Jaques as an non-overseas player.

I'm glad as well, seeing as the courts would really have had to allow him to play.

If the courts would have had to allow him to play, then why did Northamptonshire not pursue the legal action? Phil Jaques would be the backbone of an otherwise unconvincing batting lineup. Money should not be a problem because if Northamptonshire won their case the ECB would have had to pay their costs.
