*Official* English Domestic Season (2004)

Warwickshire have taken a step closer to becoming this season's county champions...COME ON THE BEARS! That draw with Kent was crucial - just need to make sure we win our next game now.

It was nice to see Gavin Hamilton return some good figures in that match: 12-2-28-2. Considering he suffered from the yips, he has done really well to recover. I hope he goes on and does really well for Durham.
Added to his 63* in the National League, in his first game of the season.
I really, really wish we'd given him a chance to recover himself here, instead we let Durham get the benefit.
Slowly, very slowly, it seems he might be making his way back.

And good luck to him I say.

To be honest, a side like Yorkshire can't afford to nurse him back, but for Durham he is an astute signing IMO.

Tait's first spell of the match was 43/4 (14 nb) Maybe he's suffering from jetlag?
Meanwhile, Ponting has averaged 99 (SR: 84.37) in First-Class and 99.33 (SR: 99) in ListA. Missed the 100 in both of them! :p
At least he's achieved some pleasing symmetary.
Thing is, I think some people will be almost awestruck by this. Not me. I really was almost expecting it. This is a guy who's averaged 72.12 in Test-cricket for 3 years and 2 days. In English domestic cricket, he should be averaging 99.

IMO he should have played more last season, then he'd have earned himself a new contract.
Good luck to him at Durham, but every time he plays well it'll always remind me of what we're missing. Especially with Chalky barely able to string 3 games together of late.

Isn't Tait supposed to be the next big thing in Australian bowling?

Ashes coming home...
One of my most respected judges of the Australian game reckons they are the best of Australia's "young" bowlers. Johnson doesn't look like he's going to have much of a career, his action appears to be wholly unsustainable.
So if their English seasons thus far are much to go by, The Ashes are certainly going to be run-fests in 2009, and maybe even in 2006\07.

He does have talent though. I remember Shoiab Akthar going for 127 of 22 overs in a tour match once and he turnt things around.

Most young quicks will learn quickly that unless you bowl good line and lengths you wont be any good at international cricket. when I say most I deffinatly dont mean Brett Lee.

Durham are quickly becoming one of my favourite counties with Scots like Hamilton and Coetzer getting a regular game. Hopefully more of us Scots can make it into county sides.

To be fair mate, don't take this the wrong way, who would want to play for Yorkshire? They are doing crap...after winning the title, they go straight down. Yorkshire lack passion, a desire to win and their ground is turning into a bit of a ****-hole. My dad, a Yorkshire member for 30/40 years, thinks that this is perhaps the worst Yorkshire side he has ever seen. They have talented players - Lumb, Bresnan, Kirby (if he can sort out his accuracy) and Gale has a bit of something. Dawson has completely lost it, McGrath is over-rated, Harvey has been ruined by Yorkshire, Lehmann is a shadow of his former self, and the bowlers look like they've come straight out of the Yorkshire league.

One bad game doesn't prove anything.

If Flintoff had a bad game and I mentioned it, you lot would all be on here launching into me quicker then David Beckham could miss a penalty.

And seeing Craig Spearman make big scores like he does for Gloucestershire, it make me angry he never did it while he was in the Black Caps.

I think if Warwickshire lose to Gloucestershire, their title is certainly in doubt. We just cannot afford to lose...

I don't think it's *that* bad - still a long way ahead of the opposition.

It would be nice to go through the season unbeaten though.
