Well Wood gets Rohit with a cracking delivery, so that's one threat gone. Rohit shrugged his shoulders as he walked off, knew he got a good one.

Ahh the bat Banton at middle order tactic that didn't work the first time he played for England.

Genius move Brendon :wallbash:

If they were just going to pick the extra batsman/use Livingstone as second spinner they'd have been better picking Hain.

Duckett
Salt
Root
Hain
Brook
Buttler
Livingstone

Wood excellent with the new ball, perhaps him and Archer should be the opening combo with Carse as 3rd seamer?

Kohli living a somewhat charmed life but Gill looks in good nick.

Desperately need wickets. England just won't keep them quiet for long. The initial spell with the new ball is over, this will be carnage.

And whilst Root's first over was unlucky to go for 10 given 2 boundaries came from edges, that second over was just rubbish and deserved the tick it got. Not sure why he's bowling ahead of others...

Atkinson just doesn't seem a white ball bowler.

Atkinson really hasn't played that much in 50 over cricket prior to getting his England call up as a consequence of that silly crisp packet tourney. Even so, he needs to learn the so called 'hard length' or otherwise he should be binned quickly.

He doesn't need to play this format. Save him, Carse and Wood for tests. Play Mahmood, Archer, Topley and other short form specialist bowlers in 20/50 over games.

Yes, Atkinson looks terrible in ODIs. Archer, Wood and Carse should be the way to go with Saqib being the 4th pacer.
Some of this analysis could also be biased because I have Carse in my draft team.

Kohli's charmed life continues, that ball tracking took an age to put together, and he's save by a millimetre.

India know they can just milk Rashid. Even if he takes 1-50, they're on for more than 300 because they can take apart the other bowlers.

It looks like those 7 or 8 tests in a row that England gave him broke him down bad

Yep it was rigged, I checked with hawkeye
It didn't save him for long.

Probably doesn't help England as now they've got a more in form batsman to support Gill.

This could be 350 plus, only Rashid and Wood have bowled alright.

This series can't end soon enough. It's been really poor, We have a lot of work to do

Champions Trophy isn't going to make things any better

One of the more inevitable tons you'll see. Gill looked in great nick from the start and hasn't been remotely troubled at any point really. Played out the decent bowling well and attacked the rubbish. England's openers could take note....

Playing fast bowlers in 3 formats is a sure fire way to ensure they either break down with injury, lose pace and effectiveness or a combination of all 3. Cummins and Bumrah are exceptions.
