The sign of a good batsman is makng the most of their luck, and most big innings have some luck along the way. This is why the first-chance average is not generally seen as a great average.

In that case, Sachin is the Unluckiest.....can we extrapolate the amount of runs he would have made?

A missed lbw decision is a different kind of luck ... questionable judgment from the umpire usually. In this case, Pietersen was helped out by pure stupidity from the umpires. So Pietersen made the most of his "super-luck". I feel for Kumble.

No he's not, and you know it.

Of course there are the occasional chanceless innings (these are the great ones) but they're few and far between, and most big scores have some luck in there somewhere.

You're complaining about umpiring decisions, which after England's series in Pakistan, annoys the hell out of me and a lot of others on this board. I'm not saying "ban you" at all - just trying to make sure that we don't end up with about three pages of "England are just lucky, etc etc" like we have done in the past. To be honest I was expecting a bit more of an inflammatory response to that from you, so thanks for taking it fairly well. :)

Oh, and no, I'm not Australian. :p
..take it easy

Hey, whats wrong in being Aussie BTW? (j/k)

To make it clear, ENG is my 2nd Fav Team so its like a love/hate relationship and I won't drag anything, life goes on but whats the point of "not having" lil banter

Hmm, should I dig out the statement I made at the end of day two saying how India had the benefit on most of the lbw shouts, batting and bowling. A couple of England's lbws in the first innings were marginal and Panesar had had some very good lbw shouts turned down on the second day when India made 130 odd for 1.

Wouldn't be surprised if he deliberately dropped Cook... he's killing England's chances here.
You've got a point.

When KP was in, I was quite happy with Cook playing the supporting role. However, when KP got out he should have accelerated.

You are clearly, clearly racist. First you target Panesar. Now the brown guy.

Personally I think you're all racist towards fat English left-arm spinners. :p

So Yuvraj has been declared fit for the 2nd test. He has to come in and I'd throw out Laxman unless he scores big tomorrow. We have 8 or 9 batsman who can all score heavily if it's their day, but Yuvraj is a huge boost in the field. Unfortunately Kaif has to remain a reserve right now.
Frankly, they should look at getting both Laxman and Kaif out. Get in Yuvraj and Munaf Patel. And of course, have four or five men around the bat when the spinners are bowling. It doesn't matter who's in the team from this bunch, but catches have to be taken.

Definitely. It's rather tragic that we only have one very good fielder in the test side in Yuvraj. I can see Laxman and Harbhajan gradually losing their way these days, especially the latter. Munaf Patel MUST be in the side, otherwise Vikram Singh.

Dean Jones mentioned the lack of energy and on-field leadership in this Indian outfit. It really needs to be taken care of. I can't wait for Raina to make the side, along with Chawla and Patel/VRV.

I wish Cook would have just retired out an hour ago, England would have been another 20-30 runs better off.

Another maiden, way to go.
