A missed lbw decision is a different kind of luck ... questionable judgment from the umpire usually. In this case, Pietersen was helped out by pure stupidity from the umpires. So Pietersen made the most of his "super-luck". I feel for Kumble.

No he's not, and you know it.

Of course there are the occasional chanceless innings (these are the great ones) but they're few and far between, and most big scores have some luck in there somewhere.

Hmm, should I dig out the statement I made at the end of day two saying how India had the benefit on most of the lbw shouts, batting and bowling. A couple of England's lbws in the first innings were marginal and Panesar had had some very good lbw shouts turned down on the second day when India made 130 odd for 1.

So Yuvraj has been declared fit for the 2nd test. He has to come in and I'd throw out Laxman unless he scores big tomorrow. We have 8 or 9 batsman who can all score heavily if it's their day, but Yuvraj is a huge boost in the field. Unfortunately Kaif has to remain a reserve right now.

Frankly, they should look at getting both Laxman and Kaif out. Get in Yuvraj and Munaf Patel. And of course, have four or five men around the bat when the spinners are bowling. It doesn't matter who's in the team from this bunch, but catches have to be taken.

Definitely. It's rather tragic that we only have one very good fielder in the test side in Yuvraj. I can see Laxman and Harbhajan gradually losing their way these days, especially the latter. Munaf Patel MUST be in the side, otherwise Vikram Singh.

Dean Jones mentioned the lack of energy and on-field leadership in this Indian outfit. It really needs to be taken care of. I can't wait for Raina to make the side, along with Chawla and Patel/VRV.
