blackwell and pietersen are the ones who really dissapointed i think, cant blame feddie, but blackwells shot in particular was so poorly exectuted and the fact he attempted it at all at that stage of the match shows he shouldnt be anywhere near the test side. Pietersen once again makes a hash of trying to play the pull shot, he should try cut down on using that shot as its his weakest area and once again using it was totally needless as he could have easily left that delivery.

Or driven the thing with a straight bat, as it was a) outside off stump and b) not short enough to pull. Gets worse with every re-watch.

i dont why he likes that shot much seeing as he cant play it properly, his effort in the C&G final are still very cringingly vivid in my memory.

One comment on reading various reports on the day's play - can we please learn not to play off the back foot so much when the ball pretty much rolls along the ground instead of bouncing?

cook was guilty of that im afraid to say, was caught in no mans land several times before he was eventually out, top effort for the lad and im really thrilled for him, but cant help but think he looked a bit "caught in the headlights" if you will, although that is understandable.

Good performance by Pathan. Allways liked him and was surprised when he went through that bad phase recently.

but he didnt actually bowl well at all really, his opening spell was poor and allowed strauss and cook to really lay into him and get well off the mark, cook got out to him trying to drive that wasnt there to drive, it wasnt a good ball cook just played a rash shot, same goes for blackwell who somehow managed to crack a poor wide delivery onto the stumps.

Sreesanth bowled better than Pathan...Pathan was barely touching 80 throughout the whole day, while Sreesanth's second spell was averaging 85mph, while getting reverse swing.

Although, 85 still isn't fast enough. We need three seamers, two of whom should be around 90, and one should be around 85+.

Pathan needs to rediscover his speed....he seems more like a First-Change bowler than a opening one. His spells with the older ball seem to be much better than with the new ball. We need Munaf Patel speed...maybe Munaf Patel and Sreesanth could open next test and Pathan comes as first change? Pathan should be in the team, I think, but lately his speed leaves much to be desired.

/AND WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH BOWLING SEVEN NO BALLS?!?!?

First day predictions?

If England win the toss...
- 240odd and 7 down at stumps.
- Cook out for a teen score.
- Pietersen 40odd.
- Pathan 2 wickets.
So that's err 1 out of 4...

That could qualify you as a psychic or Christian faith healer tho I suppose.
