What is Freddie upto??? He's running out of partners, its time he should accelerate the rate and try to get quick runs before its too late.

2 appeals in a row and declined both times..looked like the same one that Hair gave out to Kumble while he was batting against Monty

By safe i meant he would be comparatively safer than VRS, who still haven't played any International OD matches.
Ajit wouldn't be a safer choice than a selection by lottery.

That is honestly one of the dumbest ideas ever. If you want someone to get you off to a flyer, use someone who can actually bat! Dhoni or Pathan - not Patel.

Am I the only one who spots an attempted masterstroke from Fred here with the declaration? Bat slow all day, tiring the Indian bowlers in the heat, wait until he's played himself in properly and he's batting with the tail, smash us to a lead of 350, and rip out both openers in a five-over burst at the end of the day.

That's the plan, anyway. Mental disintegration, you see. Ask Steve Waugh. He knows. ;) :D
I think we've played it just right (I seem to be alone in this assessment).

Apparently the highest 4th innings chase on this ground is 160odd-6 by SA. Makes it even more stupid the way England have batted today.

Hoggy goes, lbw to Kumble as so many have been before. Fred's really got to start swinging now - Jimmeh and Monty ain't gonna be racking them up too fast.

Now Freddie has just one option, he should just attack the bowler and try to get as much runs as he can, no point in just hanging out around there and in doing so run out of partners.

Well presumably there's someone in the England team who agrees with you. Personally I'd have sooner England were bowled out for 100 in 35 overs than this - and that was a worse case scenario, with aggression they might have got to 200 before or around tea. At least with aggression they'd have had well over 120+ overs to bat out and it takes the blockfest out of the game. It's going to be a hell of a lot easier for India to bat for a draw now. England have just obligingly reduced their own chances of levelling the series.

Flintoff is joking. Alastair Cook has a smile as well.

Dean Jones reckons it is good for the young lad to listen about the wise instructions the captain Flintoff is giving.
