Why no Dan Christian, it absolutely makes no sense the guy is among the top 3 runscoreres and wicket-takers in the country, yet he is nowhere in the selectors radar.

Voges has been a good fringe player for Australia but don't think he has done anything substantial for Australia in the limited opportunities he has had, so don't see the sense in going back to someone like him when you obviously have a better in-form young talent like Finch.

Don't mind Crayfish' selection though, in the absence of Hauritz and O'Keffe I think he is a pretty good option. Krezja might leak a few runs but on brittle sub-continent tracks he's also likely to be a very attacking option, I would much rather take him to the worldcup instead of Doherty.

Also.. agree with the sentiment that Clarke should not have been rested, not only was he starting to find some form but he was also leading the side pretty well so don't know why you would want to disrupt that winning momentum.

This is the most likely side for the last game and its gotta be said that the batting is looking pretty fragile, even on the bowling front we do seem a bit short on the extra bowling options.

Btw... anyone thinks that we might go in with an all-pace attack given that the game is gonna be played at the WACA..?

This is the most likely Aussie 2nd XI on current form and they look every bit as good if not better than the side for Perth.

Even though I don't like putting the blame at any one person, those 2 overs, when Anderson came back, lost England the game imo. He seemed to be bowling off a longer run up than normal and he didn't look his usual self, with no rhythm and lost his accuracy. If he'd have only gone for about 60, , England should have won. I hope he's got this rubbish performance out of his system because tbf to him it's rare he bowls badly
I saw this in the cricinfo bulletin last night, he features quite regularly

Ummm, just had a look at Mat Prior's effort last night. Michael Clarke was on the radio here this morning defending him, saying he must not have realised his glove knocked the bail off.

Given he lunged forward to effect the stumping, and the bail fell forward, I find that a little hard to believe.

More than that, they'd smash them because they would have nothing to lose.

PS: Why not rest Haddin and give Paine the gloves?

So do I tbh. Not surprised to hear Clarke try to play it down though.
Just watched this a minute ago, very bizarre stuff.

Looking past the obligatory "but Australians cheat more than anyone" response which is no doubt like to come soon enough, I would like to know what Prior was appealing/celebrating for. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he thought he had stumped Johnson (despite his foot obviously being in) even though it still looks a bit sus...still, I'm sure Prior would rather me question his intelligence than his integrity.

I'd tend towards the attempted stumping, but he pulled out as he saw the bail fall off, without realising it was dislodged by his gloves. If it was a legit stumping attempt, he would have thrusted his gloves more instead of pulling away.

Watched some abridged highlights, and even on this Strauss's captaincy was visibly ****.

- No slip in the 6th over, when two catching men are mandatory
- Bowling Anderson for three death overs, even after the first two went for 17 and 14
- The PP field.

TBH I would be quite happy with a life ban for Prior from ODI cricket.

Cummins? You're having a laugh.
Why..!? Think he is good enough to make into the second XI, haven't played any List A games yet but still he has shown enough to suggest he is a special talent. Not saying he should come into international contention anytime soon but he certainly would be in my Aussie A side.

Yeah definitely, Australia A is reserved for testing out young talent.

However Australia A =/= Australia 2nd XI imo.

Australia A has to be the mix of your fringe players and young talent, so in a way its more or less your 2nd XI as any player who is a chance of playing for Australia at some point of time needs to be there.

No point in picking blokes in the A team when you really don't see them having a chance of playing for Australia one day.

I think it's so obvious why Christian is not selected, it's because of the big bash final.

I agree that Haddin should be rested and Paine given a chance. They might both play anyways.
